Mathematics Teacher (Residential School)
Role Overview
The Mathematics Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality math instruction that fosters critical thinking and analytical skills. Beyond the classroom, this role requires a dedicated professional who thrives in a residential boarding school environment, actively contributing to the pastoral care, co-curricular activities, and overall well-being of student boarders.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, rigorous mathematics lessons across assigned grade levels, ensuring alignment with institutional standards and board requirements.
- Assessment & Feedback: Design formative and summative assessments, provide timely and constructive feedback on student work, and maintain accurate performance records.
- Academic Support: Provide dedicated remedial support or extension sessions for students during scheduled prep hours (evening study halls).
- Evening Academic Support: Supervise scheduled evening prep (study hall), providing targeted academic assistance to boarders in science and related STEM concepts.
- Students Mentorship: Serve as a mentor/tutor to a assigned group of boarders, monitoring their personal, emotional, social, and academic progress.
- Campus Presence: Rotate through scheduled campus duties, including evening prep supervision, dining hall monitoring, and weekend campus campus supervision.
- Clubs & Activities: Lead or assist with co-curricular activities, interest clubs (e.g., Chess Club, Math Olympiad, Coding), or school sports initiatives.
- Event Coordination: Actively participate in and help organize school events, house competitions, marathons/walkathons, and annual sports meets.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics (B.Sc./M.Sc.) or a closely related field. A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent teaching certification is highly preferred.
- Experience: Prior teaching experience in a reputed school is required; experience working in a residential or boarding school environment is a distinct advantage.
- Subject Expertise: Deep conceptual understanding of mathematical frameworks, algebra, geometry, calculus, and data analysis, with the ability to prepare students for competitive exams or board standards.
- Working Conditions: This is a full-time residential position. Accommodations and meals on campus are typically provided as part of the compensation package. Candidates must be willing to reside on campus and participate fully in the extended school schedule, including weekends and evening duties.
