Role Overview
We are looking for a Math Subject Matter Expert (SME) who is also a highly skilled SEO-focused content writer. This individual will lead the strategy, planning, and creation of math-related educational content for our platform. You will be responsible for producing industry-leading, conceptually accurate, and SEO-optimized math content that serves students, parents, and educators.
You will work with a team of education and content experts to build one of the best online math resources.
Key Responsibilities
Content Development
- Plan, write, and edit clear, concise, and engaging content for the Math category (Grades 112).
- Develop concept explainers, worksheets, practice problems, real-life applications, and FAQs for each topic.
- Create content structures/templates that ensure consistency across the category.
- Ensure pedagogical accuracy and age-appropriate tone of content.
SEO & Content Strategy
- Conduct keyword research to identify high-impact topics and long-tail opportunities.
- Optimize all content to be SEO-relevant, using best practices for on-page SEO (headings, internal linking, meta tags, schema, etc.).
- Collaborate with SEO analysts to create topic clusters, pillar pages, and content calendars.
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with designers, developers, and video producers to build interactive and visual content.
- Liaise with academic heads and other SMEs to maintain educational integrity and compliance.
- Work with editors and QA teams to ensure the highest standards of grammar, clarity, and structure.
- Review and mentor junior writers/content creators (if applicable).
Required Skills & Experience
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics / Education / Engineering or related field.
Subject Expertise
- Strong conceptual clarity in school-level mathematics (Grade 112) or competitive-level math.
- Proven ability to simplify complex mathematical concepts for students.
Content & SEO Expertise
- 4+ years of experience in SEO content writing, preferably in math or STEM subjects.
- Experience working in a high-growth edtech company is a must.
- Good command over SEO tools (Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Surfer SEO, etc.).
- Deep understanding of search intent, content structure, and keyword hierarchy.
Tools & Platforms
- Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress), Google Docs, Sheets, Copyscape, Grammarly, etc.
- Exposure to content workflow/project management tools (e.g., Notion, Trello, Asana).
Content Authenticity & Quality Standards
- Content must be human-created and pedagogically accurate. While AI tools (like ChatGPT or Jasper etc) can be used for ideation or support, final content must not be AI-generated or AI-dependent.
- All content will undergo strict quality checks to ensure accuracy, originality, and compliance with academic standards
Nice to Have
- Experience creating video scripts or interactive learning modules.
- Basic understanding of HTML, schema markup, or content publishing.
- Experience with AI-assisted writing tools (Jasper, ChatGPT, etc.).
- Published work with demonstrable organic traffic performance.
