At LAT Aerospace, we're building a clean-sheet Short Take-off and Landing (STOL) aircraft to transform regional air mobility in India. We're looking for a Materials & Process Engineer specializing in composite manufacturing to drive process development, tooling design, and production optimization across prototypes, test articles, and flight hardware.
What you'll do
- Composite Manufacturing Process Development Develop, optimize, and validate all composite manufacturing processes and material choices.
- Mold & Tooling Design Design end-to-end composite molds and tooling for efficient, consistent manufacturing.
- Prepreg & Material Selection Select, qualify, and manage all prepregs and composite materials used in production.
- Cure Cycle Design & Optimization Define and optimize cure cycles to ensure part quality, stability, and efficiency.
- Manufacturing Procedure Documentation Build clear, complete manufacturing instructions and quality checkpoints.
- Production Support & Process Improvement Support builds on the floor and drive continuous improvements across quality, cost, and throughput.
What we're looking for
- 34 years of hands-on composite manufacturing experience in aerospace or high-performance builds.
- Strong fundamentals in mold design, layup development, prepreg/autoclave processing, and cure cycle optimization.
- Solid understanding of composite materials, laminate theory, and manufacturing-driven structural behaviour.
- Ability to run basic FEA/thermal analysis and create clear, repeatable manufacturing procedures.
- Comfortable troubleshooting on the floor and working in fast-paced prototyping environments.
Bonus Skills
- Experience with metal matrix composites (MMC) or aerospace metal structures (aluminum, titanium) manufacturing and joining.
- Experience with non-destructive testing (UT, thermography, tap testing) and quality inspection methods.
- Knowledge of composite repair procedures, patch design, and damage assessment.
