Material Science Specialist (AI Training)

About The Role

What if your deep expertise in materials science could directly shape how AI reasons about semiconductors, molecular structures, and the physical world We're looking for Materials Science specialists — Masters and PhD-level experts — to work alongside leading AI research teams and help build the next generation of scientifically rigorous AI models.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role designed for working researchers, postdocs, industry scientists, and academics who want to contribute their expertise to something genuinely groundbreaking — on their own schedule.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, solve, and critically review advanced materials science problems with real-world scientific relevance
  • Apply your expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or related subfields to craft complex, nuanced problem statements
  • Evaluate AI-generated reasoning and outputs for scientific accuracy, depth, and rigor
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to push the boundaries of what AI can reason about
  • Ensure clarity, precision, and scientific integrity across all deliverables

Who You Are

  • Master's or PhD in Materials Science or a closely related discipline
  • Deep expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or adjacent areas
  • Comfortable coding in Python or MATLAB for research or applied projects
  • Exceptionally clear written communicator — you can explain complex concepts with precision and accessibility
  • Detail-oriented, rigorous, and self-directed when working independently
  • Currently based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality evaluation, or AI model assessment
  • Background in computational materials science, DFT, or materials informatics
  • Experience writing technical documentation, research papers, or peer reviews
  • Familiarity with AI tools or scientific AI platforms as an end user
