Material Science Specialist (AI Training)

About The Role

What if your deep expertise in materials science could directly shape how AI reasons through some of the most complex problems in modern science We're looking for Materials Science specialists — Masters and PhD holders — to help train and evaluate cutting-edge AI models on advanced scientific concepts in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, and beyond.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for domain experts who want meaningful, intellectually engaging work on their own schedule. No prior AI experience needed — just rigorous scientific knowledge and a sharp, analytical mind.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, solve, and critically review advanced materials science problems with real-world scientific relevance
  • Apply your expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or related disciplines to design complex, high-quality problem sets
  • Evaluate AI-generated scientific content for accuracy, depth, and rigor — and push it to be better
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to enhance AI reasoning capabilities
  • Ensure scientific clarity, precision, and depth across all deliverables
  • Work independently on task-based assignments, fully on your own schedule

Who You Are

  • Master's or PhD in Materials Science or a closely related field
  • Strong expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or adjacent research areas
  • Comfortable coding in Python or MATLAB for research or data-driven work
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented — you hold your work to a high scientific standard
  • Clear and precise written communicator who can explain complex concepts effectively
  • Self-motivated and reliable when working independently

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, evaluation systems, or AI training workflows
  • Background in computational materials science or materials informatics
  • Experience writing technical documentation, research papers, or scientific assessments
  • Familiarity with AI tools or large language models as an end user
