Material Planner – EMS Industry

About the Role

Responsible for ensuring timely availability of materials to support uninterrupted production while optimizing inventory and minimizing shortages, excess, and obsolete stock.

Responsibilities

  • Plan materials based on customer demand, MRP, BOM, production schedules, and inventory.
  • Monitor material availability, shortages, open POs, supplier commitments, and critical components.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Suppliers, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Program teams to resolve material issues.
  • Drive shortage recovery and expedite critical/long-lead-time materials.
  • Maintain optimum inventory levels and reduce excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.
  • Support NPI, engineering changes, BOM updates, and production ramp-up.
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance and ensure adherence to required delivery dates.
  • Prepare and track material availability, shortage, inventory, and supply-chain KPIs.

Qualifications

  • 4–7 years of experience in Material Planning/Supply Chain, preferably in the EMS/electronics industry.

Required Skills

  • Good in Excel and data crunching.
  • Strong knowledge of MRP, BOM, ERP, inventory management, and electronic components.
  • Experience with SAP similar ERP systems.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, follow-up, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Key Focus: Material availability, shortage management, inventory optimization, supplier coordination, and zero production disruption.
