Position Overview
Ascend Performance Materials is seeking a Material Data Management System Administrator to support the configuration, data expansion, and ongoing improvement of our web-based material data management system.
This role requires a blend of technical data handling skills and a strong background in understanding material properties, technical datasheets, testing standards, and engineering documentation. You will focus on preparing the system to receive structured material, product, and technical data using tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, and platform-native upload features.

Ascend Performance Materials is seeking a Material Data Management System Administrator to support the configuration, data expansion, and ongoing improvement of our web-based material data management system.
This role requires a blend of technical data handling skills and a strong background in understanding material properties, technical datasheets, testing standards, and engineering documentation. You will focus on preparing the system to receive structured material, product, and technical data using tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, and platform-native upload features.
Targeted Outcomes
- Support the successful expansion and ongoing maintenance of Ascend's web-based material data management system.
- Develop repeatable processes for preparing, formatting, validating, and uploading material and product data into the system.
- Enable efficient mass uploads of technical data from Excel, Word, PDF, and legacy source files.
- Support technical engineers and business users by improving workflows, reporting, and access to accurate material data
System Configuration & Administration:
- Configure and maintain the web-based material data management platform, including user workflows, templates, forms, user roles, and system settings.
- Format and structure system fields to store material, product, and technical data in a consistent and searchable format.
- Configure low-code/no-code features including forms, approval routing, data views, and reporting tools.
- Troubleshoot platform issues, coordinate with engineering or software vendors, and track issues through resolution
- Utilize SQL, Python, Excel, and platform-native tools for data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading.
- Extract unstructured or semi-structured data from Word, PDF, and Excel documents into database-ready formats.
- Perform mass uploads of product data, technical datasheets, property tables, document links, and related literature.
- Audit legacy systems to resolve missing, duplicated, inconsistent, or improperly formatted entries.
- Work closely with technical engineering and product teams to translate data requirements into structured fields and reports.
- Maintain revision control, data traceability, and controlled-document practices across product data.
- Build reporting dashboards and analytics using Excel, Power BI, SQL, or native platform reporting tools.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Data Management: Proven experience working with structured data formatting, data transformation, migration, and mass upload processes.
- Document Extraction: Demonstrated experience extracting and preparing data from Excel, Word, PDF, and technical documents.
- Technical Skills: Working knowledge of SQL, Python, Excel, Power BI, and database concepts.
- System Support: Experience supporting web-based enterprise applications, technical data systems, or document management platforms, including low-code/no-code configurations.
- Vendor & User Support: Background working with software vendors or technical support teams to resolve application bugs and system issues.
- Domain Exposure (Preferred): Familiarity with material properties, product datasheets, testing standards, or engineering documentation is a strong plus
