Role Description
Responsible for managing Vayhan's roasting operations, ensuring consistent production of roasted beans and roast C ground (RCG) coffee to meet diverse B2B customer requirements. This role requires both technical expertise in roasting and grinding and a strong sensory understanding of coffee to create blends that deliver on flavor, aroma and quality expectations.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of coffee chemistry and roasting science.
- Proven operational experience with Probat automatic roasters. Experience in premix blends development including functional coffees. Exposure in liquid concentrates, cold brews, decoctions C RTD beverages.
- Capability to create and test flavoured coffee variants. Exposure in small batch freeze dried products
Proficiency in grinding, degassing and packaging processes. Ability to design and replicate roast profiles consistently.
- Expertise in cupping, sensory evaluation and barista techniques. Competence in matching competitor blends (e.g., high-aroma South Indian RCG coffee).
- Familiarity with international standards (ISO, HACCP, GMP, GHP, FSMS).
Key Responsibilities
- Proficiency in Coffee Roasting and familiarity with Specialty Coffee practices
- Experience in Quality Control to maintain rigorous standards for coffee products
- Strong Communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and other stakeholders
- Experience in providing Training to team members to enhance their skills and maintain consistency
- Passion for coffee craftsmanship and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team in an on-site setting
- Prior experience in coffee roasting or a related field is highly desirable
- Operate and manage automatic Probat roasters and associated equipment.
- Develop and maintain roast profiles tailored to different customer requirements (cafs, restaurants, caterers, chains, offices).
- Conduct green bean quality assessment including physical, moisture and sensory checks before roasting.
- Execute grinding and degassing processes to industry standards.
- Maintain records of roast batches, parameters and quality control data.
- Collaborate with the product development team to design custom blends (RCG and beans) for B2B clients.
- Develop and commercialize Roasted Coffees, RCG Coffees,
- Premix Products and Liquid Coffee Products as per market requirements.
- Conduct cupping sessions and ensure alignment with desired sensory outcomes.
- Provide technical support to the business team by helping match competitor profiles (e.g., filter coffee blends, vending blends, specialty commercial profiles).
- Assist in training baristas or B2B customers on brew methods for optimal extraction and enhancing taste profiles.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety and operational standards of roasting facility.
