Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Master of Social Work role based in Bengaluru. The social worker will provide trauma-informed psychosocial support to acid attack and burn survivors, including individual counselling, group sessions, and crisis intervention as needed. They will conduct detailed psychosocial assessments, develop personalized care and rehabilitation plans, and coordinate referrals to medical, legal, and vocational services. The role includes facilitating life-skills, resilience-building, and empowerment workshops in collaboration with the creative and program teams. The social worker will maintain accurate documentation, monitor progress, support community reintegration, and contribute to program design, evaluation, and advocacy initiatives aligned with Ara Lumiere's mission.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Proven experience working with survivors of violence, trauma, or other vulnerable communities.
  • Strong skills in psychosocial assessment, case management, and care planning.
  • Ability to provide trauma-informed individual and group counselling in a safe, non-judgmental manner.
  • Knowledge of community resources, rehabilitation services, and referral networks in and around Bengaluru.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English and proficiency in local languages preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to gender equity, inclusion, survivor-centered practice, and ethical boundaries.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including creative, operations, and foundation staff.
  • Strong organizational skills for documentation, reporting, and outcome tracking.
  • Comfort working on-site in a creative, fast-evolving environment that centres survivor voices.
  • Training in trauma-informed care, mental health, or counselling techniques is an advantage.
  • Experience with advocacy, community outreach, or program development in the social sector is a plus.
