About us
RetainIQ is a tech-first retention marketing company based in Bangalore. We've built our own personalization platform that powers email and SMS programs for D2C brands across the US; candle companies, supplement brands, apparel labels, outdoor gear, pet products. Our SaaS tooling sits at the core of how we deliver retention outcomes that our clients can measure directly in revenue.
We're hiring across the marketing team this year as we grow. This is one of the most important roles in the company; the person in this seat is the brain behind every brand's marketing program.
What you'll actually do
- You'll own marketing strategy for 5-6 D2C brand accounts. The work spans:
- Build the quarterly retention strategy for each brand you own. Where the revenue is coming from, where the gaps are, what to fix next.
- Translate strategy into monthly campaign calendars. Promotional sends, lifecycle flows, A/B tests, segmentation experiments.
- Write campaign briefs that designers and copywriters execute against. Some weeks you'll write copy yourself.
- Run weekly client calls. Read their data, present what's working and what's not, recommend the next move. These are senior-level conversations with founders and marketing leads.
- Audit existing email and SMS programs. Find what's broken or missing and build a plan to fix it.
- Use our internal personalization platform, Klaviyo, Hiro Analytics, and a deep AI tooling stack to move 3-5x faster than a traditional marketer.
- Work alongside a Designer, a Pod Lead, and a Customer Success Associate. Strong collaboration is the default mode.
What we're looking for
- 2-4 years in marketing of any flavor. Performance marketing, content marketing, brand marketing, lifecycle marketing, growth marketing, all relevant. Email marketing experience specifically is a plus but not a requirement.
- Comfortable with data. You should be able to look at a campaign report or a funnel chart, form a hypothesis about why the numbers look the way they do, and recommend a next step.
- Strong written communication. Briefs, copy, client emails, internal docs. Writing is most of the job. Strong writing is non-negotiable.
- The ability to think in systems. Lifecycle marketing isn't a sequence of campaigns; it's an interconnected engine. We need someone who can see the engine.
- Comfortable on calls with US-based clients. Confident, warm, articulate. You should be able to hold your own with founders and marketing leads.
- Klaviyo, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, MoEngage, or any modern ESP experience is a plus, not a requirement. We'll teach you our stack.
- Service mindset paired with a strong point of view. You like clients and want them to win, but you also push back when they're wrong.
What we're not looking for
- Pure media buyers who haven't done strategic or lifecycle work.
- Marketers who define themselves by which platform they ran ads on. We care how you think, not what platforms you've touched.
- People who think marketing is about creativity alone, with no patience for spreadsheets, performance data, or process. The role is 60% rigor, 40% craft.
- Candidates who view agency work as a stepping stone they want to leave in 12 months. The best growth here comes from staying long enough to own a real book of business.
