Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Postcard Hotel is a collection of small luxury hotels built on a simple idea — slow, quiet, deeply personal travel. Our marketing has to feel the same: restrained, beautiful and consistent.

We are looking for a Management Trainee to run the day-to-day of that presence — social media, content, copy, design and short-form video — while learning paid campaigns, email, WhatsApp and reporting alongside the Marketing Manager. It is a hands-on training role, designed to grow into a full marketing role.

You should be genuinely good with Illustrator, Canva and a video editor, and have taste. Portfolio matters more than years.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

1. Social media management

  • Run the day-to-day of Instagram, Facebook, X and LinkedIn — publishing, scheduling, community management and inbox response.
  • Reply to comments and DMs on time; escalate guest complaints immediately.

2. Content grids, calendars and copy

  • Build and maintain a rolling monthly content grid across properties and channels, mapped to occupancy, seasons and campaign moments. Source raw assets from property teams, chefs and photographers.
  • Write captions in the brand voice — short, warm, understated. No exclamation marks, no travel-blog clichés.

3. Reels and short-form video

  • Edit and publish reels in Premiere Pro, CapCut or equivalent: pacing, colour, text overlays, subtitles and correct export specs.
  • Adapt one shoot into reel, story, carousel and LinkedIn post, and keep up with formats and audio trends.

4. Design: Illustrator and Canva

  • Design social creative, carousels, story templates, emailers and offer collateral.
  • Adobe Illustrator: high proficiency expected, vector work, layout, typography, print-ready and digital export.
  • Canva: high proficiency expected, building and maintaining brand templates the team can use safely.
  • Photoshop and Lightroom are a plus. You own brand consistency — fonts, colour, spacing, imagery — across everything that goes out.

5. Meta Ads and paid social

  • Learn to build and manage campaigns in Meta Ads Manager — audiences, budgets, creative sets and A/B tests — with the Manager reviewing before anything goes live.
  • Monitor spend, flag underperformance early, and learn to read CTR, CPC, ROAS and cost per booking.

6. Email and WhatsApp — B2C and B2B

  • Design, write and build emailers for guests (B2C) and travel trade and partners (B2B), deploying with the Manager's sign-off.
  • Help run WhatsApp broadcasts and guest journeys — pre-arrival, in-stay, post-stay, win-back — within opt-in rules.

7. Analytics and reporting

  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports across social, paid, email and WhatsApp, using templates we set up with you.
  • Learn Meta Business Suite, platform insights and Google Analytics, and present findings as a recommendation, not a data dump.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Essential

  • 0–1 year in social media, content or digital marketing — internships, freelance and live college projects count. Freshers with a strong portfolio are welcome.
  • A portfolio is mandatory: grids or campaigns, static and carousel creative, video you edited, and copy. Identify your contribution to collaborative work.
  • Strong working proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Canva, tested through a practical exercise.
  • Ability to edit short-form video independently, start to finish.
  • Strong written English with a good ear for tone — clean, warm, unfussy copy.
  • A basic understanding of paid social and the appetite to learn Meta Ads Manager.
  • Organised, reliable with deadlines and coachable.
  • Genuine interest in hospitality, design, food and travel.

Desirable

  • Hospitality, luxury, F&B or lifestyle brand experience.
  • Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects or Figma.
  • Email platforms (Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Zoho, Netcore) and WhatsApp Business API.
  • Google Ads, SEO fundamentals, or influencer and UGC collaborations.

Who this role suits

  • Has taste and can defend a design decision, not just execute a brief.
  • Notices when something is 5% off — the wrong crop, the wrong font weight, a caption that tries too hard.
