- Work with the managed service provider (MSP) marine quality assurance (MQA) team on various tasks related to the assessment and stewardship of vessels and operators engage in EM related business.
- Subject matter expertise in the support of Global Marine (GM) innovation and external advocacy initiatives.
- Serve as subject matter expert on the design, construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of marine assets (hydrocarbon transportation vessels, offshore support vessels, and floating terminals) used in EM business.
- Expert advisory on ship-handling and seamanship, vessel administration, cargo and ballast operations, mooring & towing operations, terminal interfaces, regulatory compliance, operation and repair of vessel machinery systems, and vessel emergency response.
- Leverage this knowledge to interface between various EM business units and MSP Project Advisory team to identify, develop, and execute marine technical and operational solutions, in a project management role utilizing MSP personnel on a subcontractor basis.

What you will do:
- Work with the MSPs MQA team on various tasks related to the assessment of candidate third party vessels and vessel operators for EM service, and the stewardship of contracted vessels
- Monitoring and verification of High Consequence Risk (HCR) prevention and mitigation voyage order subjects; Verify onboard and underway sailing along with operator office visits to verify effectiveness of operators HCR safeguards.
- Implementing and stewarding Performance Improvement Roadmaps with key operators not meeting expectations; Engaging with vessel operator in higher severity incidents and keeping relevant internal stakeholders informed.
- Reviewing higher severity incidents involving EM chartered vessels, including any associated gap closure activities; Emergency response support activities, as outlined in the GM Marine Emergency Support Response Plan.
- Processing screenings in SMARTQA system where elevated approvals (i.e. beyond the authority of the MSP); Work with the MSP to evaluate / approve STS Service Providers and STS locations;
- Engaging with EM affiliates to provide solutions related to ongoing or potential voyages, chartered vessels / potential vessels, terminals, STS, risk screenings, voyage order clauses, and preventative / mitigative measures.
- Determine if task specific Risk Screening is required for evaluation and provide advisory
- Business continuity plan (BCP) activities, including vessel screenings in SmartQA MSP is unavailable.
- Support of EM Upstream MQA activities, as outlined in the EM Marine Quality Assurance Production Best Practice.
- Preliminary contract review & ad-hoc projects support
About You:
Skills & Qualifications:
- Marine operations, technical and/or nautical expertise and experience between 5 -10 years as a marine officer.
- Thorough knowledge of ExxonMobil MQA processes, procedures, the functionality and use of SMARTQA.
- Comprehensive understanding of EM OIMS, CIMS, standards and procedures for management reporting.
- Previous work experience on shore side or ship board operations roles dealing with deep sea tankers or marine terminal operations
- Knowledge in the compliance to Access Control, Risk Assessment, Change Management & Business DRP/BCP
- Marine industry knowledge with MQA requirements/expectations and risk management principles;
- Capabilities to act as an ISM Auditor with experience in Third Party Safety Management System audits;
- Strong leadership and collaboration, ability to communicate clearly and interface with Senior Management.
- High integrity, disciplined, discretion and adherence to confidentiality.
- Effective mentoring & motivating capabilities, ability to work with different cultures and diverse backgrounds.
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills and effectively plan and prioritize activities.
