ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead and control the complete electrical scope of work on shipbuilding projects. This role demands a hands-on project professional with strong technical grounding in electrical systems, deep experience managing subcontractors and vendors, and the ability to drive execution across complex, multi-stakeholder environments. The ideal candidate will own the full lifecycle, from planning and installation oversight through trials, commissioning, and documentation handover.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Project Planning & Execution Control

• Review project scope, drawings, and technical specifications before execution commences

• Develop and track weekly and overall project schedules aligned with shipbuilding timelines

• Monitor progress across all electrical activities including cable routing, installation, testing, and commissioning

• Identify interdependencies with other departments and ensure proper sequencing of work

2. Vendor Management & Coordination

• Act as the primary point of contact for the subcontractor executing the electrical scope

• Ensure vendor adherence to scope, timelines, manpower deployment, and agreed deliverables

• Conduct regular progress reviews and enforce accountability for delays or deviations

• Resolve on-site challenges proactively and escalate critical issues when required

3. Technical Oversight

• Ensure installation, cable laying, termination, and equipment fitment are executed per approved drawings and standards

• Validate work progress against technical requirements without direct execution

• Review and approve deviations, modifications, and rework in coordination with engineering teams

4. Quality, Inspection & Compliance

• Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical standards, naval specifications, and EMI/EMC guidelines

• Coordinate stage-wise inspections with internal QA/QC teams, OEMs, and external inspection agencies

• Ensure timely closure of inspection observations and defect rectifications within agreed timelines

• Monitor testing activities including insulation tests, continuity checks, and system trials

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Ensure submission and accuracy of all required project documentation including cable length and system reports

• Manage inspection records and clearance documentation

• Oversee trial reports and commissioning checklists

• Track work-done certification and ensure proper documentation for billing and project tracking

6. Trials & Commissioning Support

• Coordinate with OEMs and internal teams during harbour and sea trials

• Ensure readiness of all systems for energisation and commissioning milestones

• Oversee vendor support during trials, testing, and final handover activities

7. Risk & Issue Management

• Identify potential risks in execution, sequencing, and vendor performance proactively

• Drive resolution of delays, technical conflicts, and on-site challenges

• Ensure minimal rework and sustained adherence to project timelines

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

• Total Experience: 5–12 years in relevant technical project roles

• Industry Background: Shipbuilding / EPC / Heavy Engineering / Infrastructure Projects

• Functional Experience: Electrical installation, commissioning, or project execution roles preferred

• Mandatory Requirement: Prior experience working with third-party contractors or subcontractors
