Job Description

Role Overview

Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer is required for the NPD team for execution of ongoing 2 wheeler engineering projects. The role is to independently work on the design as a designer for the project with adherence to timelines and requirements. The role will involve having technical discussions with the team, come up with concepts based on inputs from the team lead, and translate concepts into 3D model design with complete detailing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Sr. Designer for a project.
  • Understand requirements and come up with concepts for discussion with team lead.
  • Understand concept discussions, hand sketches, etc., and translate them into a complete 3D model design with considerations of design for manufacture, design for ease of assembly, design for ease of maintenance, design for usability, and design for serviceability.
  • Identify bought out parts needed for the design.
  • Detailing of 3D model with fasteners, accessories, OEM parts, etc.
  • Conduct multiple design reviews with team members to get and incorporate feedback from them.
  • Electrical control panel design (sheet metal).
  • Coordinate and review manufacturing-ready part and assembly drawings with junior designers.
  • Prepare and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Apply GD&T on drawings to ensure functionality and manufacturability.
  • Resolve manufacturer/fabricator queries.
  • Support engineering changes and documentation updates.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Mechanical Engineer.
  • Experience in 2 wheeler design necessary.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling, 2D drawing generation, and GD&T understanding.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Hands-on experience on the shop floor.
  • Hands-on experience in 2 wheeler design.
  • Knowledge of homologation requirements, tests to be conducted, and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of vendors for 2 wheeler components (brakes, suspension, bearings, instrument clusters).
  • SolidWorks Certified Professional certification.
  • Experience in 2 wheeler Vehicle Integration.
  • Experience in physical assembly & disassembly of 2 wheelers.
