Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented
Trailer Design Engineer to join our mechanical design team. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of trailer development, from initial 3D modeling to manufacturing-ready 2D drawings. This role covers a diverse range of heavy-duty equipment including flatbeds, drop flats, chip vans, lowboys, loggers, and dump trailers.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Design: Create comprehensive 3D and 2D designs using SolidWorks, focusing on sheet metal components, fastener selection, and full assembly layouts.
- Technical Documentation: Develop detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) and assembly drawings optimized for the shop floor.
- System Design: Use AutoCAD or DraftSight to engineer 2D circuits for pneumatic braking systems, hydraulic tailgates, and suspension systems.
- Manufacturing Support: Collaborate with the shop floor to oversee sheet metal operations, welding processes, and assembly flow.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Software Proficiency:
- Expertise in SolidWorks (3D/2D, Sheet Metal, Assembly).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or DraftSight for 2D schematics.
- Industry Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of trailer components: landing gear, portal frames, side walls, suspension, and walking systems (axles, rims, tires).
- Strict adherence to international standards and Technical Data Sheets (TDS).
- Experience: Previous experience in heavy equipment, specifically within the trailer industry (Flatbed, loggers, dump trailers, etc.).
