Role Summary
As a Core Team IIoT Specialist, you will play a critical role in shaping the digital backbone of Best Group's manufacturing and smart factory initiatives. You will design, deploy, and maintain IIoT systems that connect machines, MES, and enterprise platforms to enable real-time data insights, predictive operations, and scalable automation.
This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in industrial automation, connectivity, and IIoT technologies, who thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
Key Responsibilities
Industrial Connectivity & Integration (Core Requirement)
- Leverage your strong background in setting up, integrating, and troubleshooting OPC UA servers, Modbus servers/clients, and other industrial communication interfaces.
- Work with a wide range of PLCs and SCADA systems to ensure accurate, reliable, and continuous data collection.
- Support protocol conversions, data mapping, and OT equipment interoperability to enable seamless communication across systems and plants.
IIoT & MES Enablement (Core Requirement)
- Deploy and configure IIoT gateways, edge devices, and MES connectivity.
- Design robust communication pathways and data flows for real-time monitoring and analytics.
- Contribute to plant-level digital architecture planning aligned with strategic transformation goals.
Networking & Systems
- Apply basic to intermediate knowledge of industrial networks, VLANs, and communication layers to support connectivity for OPC UA/Modbus servers and MES systems.
- Follow essential cybersecurity best practices to ensure safe and reliable OT/IT communication.
Programming, Automation & Database
- Create and debug Python scripts for device communication, data processing, and integration workflows.
- Build small automation and monitoring tools to enhance system reliability and diagnostics.
- Apply database fundamentals, including SQL server setup, table creation, queries, and supporting data logging for IIoT and MES applications.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Impact
- Work closely with OT, IT, production, and maintenance teams to implement and support connectivity and IIoT solutions.
- Collaborate with vendors, system integrators, and equipment suppliers.
- Provide technical support during installation, testing, commissioning, and continuous improvement phases.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Instrumentation, or Computer Engineering/Science, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or IIoT integration.
- Proven expertise in OPC UA, Modbus, PLC/SCADA systems, and MES connectivity.
- Solid understanding of industrial networking, Python programming, and database management (SQL).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with IIoT platforms (Azure IoT Hub, AWS IoT, Kepware, HiveMQ).
- Understanding of Industry 4.0, ISA-95/99, and OT cybersecurity practices.
- Certifications in PLC programming, networking (CCNA/Network+), or industrial systems.
- Experience with cloud connectivity or edge computing is a plus.
