Job Summary
In charge for sintering and hipping area in the plant Ensure products are produced as per required quality and ensure related activities and development of processes and system. Ensure plant targets and metrics are achieved. This position works within the manufacturing plant /product unit.
Key Job Responsibilities
- This position works under the direct supervision of the Product Unit Leader of Product Unit 2. This position exists to ensure proper functioning of the strategically important process of sintering and hipping of carbide products.
- He will ensure that the products are delivered achieving desired quality levels, within the decided lead times through proper use of resources and maintaining highest levels of safety. While ensuring safety, quality and lead time.
- He will coordinate with various departments like powder plant, sintering, EHS, Rel Engg., and PED. He will maintain work schedules of employees and supervise them with in the work area and shift to meet output demand of shaping. Identify and monitor performance indicators, measuring actual vs planned. Plan, maintain and communicate production requirements while providing direction and guidance to employees in order to achieve the plan. Ensure that employees are trained and have necessary resources to meet company quality standards.
- Responsible for daily planning of sintering charges ,process control and furnace utilization monitoring and ensure plant metrics are achieved.
Experience in a production shop floor in engineering industry with activities like sintering in vacuum furnaces.
Ensuring 100% safe working environment. Ensure training, implementation of all EHS related actions incl. 5S
Optimum utilization of machines and resources.
Planning of tooling/consumables.
To ensure that a safe and clean environment is maintained conforming to the requirements as laid down by EHS department. Metrics are monitored, actions laid and trends displayed.
Monitor the health of the furnaces as required to ensure availability of the machines, including conducting TPM activities. Coordinate with PED/RE for improvement Kaizans/Projects.
Coordinate with pressing for daily scheduling of furnaces and sintering charges and resources in line with requirement of sintering department .and weekly plans.
Lead/Involve in Continuous Improvement projects Drawing the annual production plan based on the forecast of inserts. Organizing the resources required to achieve the production plan
- Knowledge of sintering furnaces must.
- Responsible for process control and improvements to ensure required quality of products.
- Responsible for driving lean projects in the plant for productivity and quality improvements.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance of ISO 9000 OSHAS 14000.
- Ensure good industrial relation in the plant.
- Ensure safety culture and compliance to all EHS requirements of the area.
- Ensure optimum utilization and efficiency improvements of the machines in pressing and shaping.
- Coordinate with all other areas in the plant like sintering /Inspection to ensure over all plant metrics are achieved.
- Coordinate with other functions of the company like plant engg, Reliability engg, R&D, PED, HR, Finance etc for any requirement.
- Ensure lean activities are implemented in the related area.
- Ensure cost savings and process improvement projects are in line with targets.
- Ensure preparation of procedures and other manufacturing documentation. Provides assistance for troubleshooting, quality improvements, capability issues, productivity improvement and capital purchases.
- Drives process improvements, capital installation and new process introductions.
- Responsible for new product development and process development and ensuring quality of product in coordination with powder plant, quality and R&D.
Years of Relevant Work Experience Required: 5-8 Years
Preferred Areas of Education, Certifications, and Skills: B.E Metallurgy engineering from reputed institute. Sound knowledge of CNC machines/ programming. and lean tools implementation, ISO, EHS systems desired. Good people management skills and Working in a team.
