Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering Lead Battery Assembly

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineering Lead to drive end-to-end manufacturing line design, setup, and commissioning for lithium-ion battery assembly operations. The role involves leading automation initiatives, process optimization, and cost reduction programs, while ensuring robust, scalable, and high-quality manufacturing systems.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead end-to-end development of manufacturing linesfrom concept design, layout planning, equipment selection, installation, to commissioning and ramp-up.
- Drive automation projects including concept development, vendor identification, technical evaluation, buy-off, installation, and continuous improvement of automated/semi-automated assembly lines.
- Ensure process readiness before SOP, including development and deployment of PFMEA, Control Plans, SOPs, and process documentation.
- Conduct feasibility studies, capacity planning, and cycle time optimization to meet production and business targets.
- Lead cost reduction initiatives through value engineering, process improvements, and productivity enhancements.
- Drive Lean manufacturing practices (Kaizen, Muda elimination, line balancing, visual management) to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, and PPC teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Manage CAPEX planning and execution, including budgeting, tracking, and ROI validation for new lines and automation projects.
- Ensure compliance with quality systems, safety standards, and process controls, maintaining high levels of product quality and reliability.
- Support NPI (New Product Introduction) and ensure smooth transition from development to mass production.
- Lead and mentor a team of Manufacturing/Process/Automation Engineers, driving performance and capability development.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics Engineering.
- 1015 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in battery, automotive, or high-volume assembly environments.
- Strong experience in line setup, commissioning, and process engineering for assembly operations.
- Hands-on expertise in automation systems, PLCs, HMI, robotics, and assembly machines.
- Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing, line balancing, and productivity improvement techniques.
- Experience in PFMEA, Control Plans, SOPs, and process validation.
- Strong problem-solving, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, scale-up manufacturing environment.
Good to Have
- Experience in lithium-ion battery assembly / EV manufacturing.
- Exposure to ERP/SAP (BOM, routing, standard time management).
- Knowledge of Six Sigma / continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience in costing, value engineering, and supplier development.
