Job Description

Job Title: Managing Director

Location: Singapore

Reporting to: Senior Executive Leadership (HQ)

Purpose of the Position

The Managing Director leads the Singapore manufacturing and R&D entities, ensuring strategic alignment with Global Business Units while driving growth, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance within the Medical Devices sector.

The MD serves as Site Head and Management Team leader, acting as the primary spokesperson to internal and external stakeholder.The MD oversees Manufacturing, Quality/Regulatory Affairs, R&D, Product Transfer, and corporate functions, ensuring resource availability to meet Business Unit demands.

Main responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for manufacturing operations and R&D activities.
  • Lead the Management Team to optimize daily business performance.
  • Develop and execute growth strategies aligned with Business Unit objectives.
  • Ensure full compliance with ISO 13485, FDA QSR, EU MDR, GMP, and other applicable regulations.
  • Manage budgets, resources, investments, and cost control.
  • Oversee the full product lifecycle—from R&D and design transfer to manufacturing, market supply, and post-market surveillance.
  • Lead product transfer and new production line setup projects.
  • Drive talent acquisition, retention, and development strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with regulatory bodies, industry partners, and government agencies.
  • Evaluate performance, productivity, and organizational efficiency.
  • Identify growth opportunities and report results to senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Degree in Medical/Engineering/ business or other
  • Minimum 15 years of experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role in manufacturing/R&D within medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or other regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of medical device manufacturing processes
  • Experience in product/technology transfer and new site setup.
  • Proven ability to lead change, drive results, and foster engagement.
  • Entrepreneurial, decisive, and resilient with courage to challenge the status quo.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and intercultural skills in a matrix organization.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and operate effectively within regulatory constraints.
