MANAGING DIRECTOR & CEO

European Rotating Equipment Group | Pumps, Compressors, Turbines & Industrial Machinery | National Capital Region (NCR), India

Company Overview

Our client is a European-headquartered engineering group and a globally recognized manufacturer of rotating equipmentserving critical end markets such as oil & gas, power generation, water & wastewater, chemicals and process industries, and general manufacturing. With a strong legacy of engineering excellence, proprietary technology, and a global manufacturing and service footprint spanning Europe, Asia, and the Americas, the company has built a reputation for reliability, precision engineering, and long-term customer partnerships. In India, the company operates a manufacturing/assembly facility and a network of service and aftermarket centres supporting customers across the country and the broader South Asia region. As part of its continued investment in the India market, the company is seeking a Managing Director & CEO to be based in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Position Summary

The Managing Director & CEO will be the senior-most business leader for the company's India operations, holding full P&L responsibility across manufacturing, engineering, sales, and aftermarket service. Reporting to the Group/Regional Leadership in Europe (and/or the India Board), the incumbent will be responsible for setting and executing the India strategy, driving profitable order intake and revenue growth across OEM, EPC, and aftermarket/service channels, ensuring world-class manufacturing and engineering performance, and strengthening the organization's capability to support the company's long-term ambitions in India and the region. This is a highly visible role requiring strong general management credentials, deep operating experience in rotating equipment or capital goods businesses, and the ability to represent the company with customers, regulators, and institutional stakeholders. The role will be based out of NCR (Delhi / Gurugram / Noida).

Key Responsibilities

•      Strategic Leadership:  Define and execute the India business strategy for pumps, compressors, turbines, and allied rotating equipment, aligned with global/group priorities, to deliver sustainable, profitable growth across OEM, EPC, and aftermarket channels.

•      P&L Ownership:  Own the full India P&L — order intake, revenue, EBITDA, working capital, and return on capital employed (ROCE) — and ensure delivery against Board/Group-approved annual operating plans and budgets.

•      Manufacturing & Engineering Operations:  Provide end-to-end operational leadership across the India manufacturing/assembly facility and engineering function, driving productivity, quality, safety, cost competitiveness, and on-time delivery in line with global product and quality standards (including API 610/611/612/617/674 and ISO frameworks, as applicable).

•      Sales, Projects & Aftermarket Growth:  Drive market expansion across OEM supply, EPC/project business, and the high-margin aftermarket/service and spares business; strengthen key account relationships with end users, EPC contractors, and channel partners across oil & gas, power, water, and process industries.

•      Business Development & Capex:  Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, capacity expansion, localization initiatives, and potential partnerships or acquisitions that strengthen the company's competitive position in India.

•      Organizational Leadership & Talent:  Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing senior leadership team across manufacturing, engineering, sales, service, finance, and HR; strengthen succession pipelines and leadership depth.

•      Governance, Risk & Compliance:  Establish robust governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks covering statutory, regulatory, environmental, health & safety (EHS), and quality standards across the facility and offices.

•      Stakeholder & Government Relations:  Represent the company before the Group/Regional leadership, customers, regulators, industry associations, and other key stakeholders; act as the face of the organization in India.

•      Innovation & Digitalization:  Champion technology adoption, digitalization of manufacturing and service operations (Industry 4.0, IoT-enabled condition monitoring), and continuous innovation to strengthen the company's competitive position.

Key Result Areas (KRAs)

•      Order intake, revenue growth, EBITDA margin, and ROCE achievement against annual and multi-year targets.

•      Manufacturing and service performance: OEE, quality, safety (LTIFR), on-time delivery, and cost competitiveness.

•      Growth in aftermarket/service revenue share and customer retention across the installed base.

•      Successful execution of capacity expansion, localization, or new facility/service center initiatives within budget and timeline.

•      Regulatory, quality, and statutory compliance record across all India locations.

•      Leadership bench strength, employee engagement, and organizational capability development.

Candidate Requirements

Educational Qualifications

•      Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline is required.

•      MBA or Master's degree in Management/Business Administration from a reputed institute is highly preferred.

Experience

•      18–28 years of progressive experience in rotating equipment, capital goods, or industrial manufacturing businesses, with at least 5–8 years in a Managing Director, CEO, Country Head, or equivalent full P&L leadership role.

•      Demonstrated experience in pumps, compressors, turbines, or allied rotating equipment, ideally within a global/European MNC matrix structure.

•      Proven track record of driving profitable order intake, operational excellence, and aftermarket/service growth in a large, complex organization.

•      Strong understanding of India's oil & gas, power, water & wastewater, and process industry landscape, along with relevant engineering standards (API, ISO); exposure to global/matrix reporting structures is highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies

•      Strong strategic and financial acumen with demonstrated full P&L ownership and accountability.

•      Deep expertise in manufacturing operations, engineering, and aftermarket/service business models for capital equipment.

•      Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with global leadership, customers, EPC contractors, and industry forums.

•      Strong leadership presence with a track record of building, mentoring, and inspiring senior cross-functional teams.

•      High degree of integrity, governance orientation, and risk management discipline consistent with a global/European MNC environment.

•      Excellent communication, negotiation, and executive presentation skills, with comfort operating in a matrixed global organization.
