Role Overview:
The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing all refrigeration and air-conditioning systems across SPAR stores in Nigeria, ensuring operational efficiency, safety compliance, energy optimization, and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Leading installation, commissioning, and preventive maintenance of refrigeration systems (Cold Rooms, Freezers, Chillers, Display Cases)
- Supervising HVAC systems for store cooling and ventilation
- Monitoring temperature integrity across Fresh, Butchery, Bakery, and Frozen departments
- Conducting root cause analysis for recurring refrigeration failures
- Ensuring compliance with food safety and cold chain standards
- Managing refrigerant handling, leak detection, and environmental compliance
- Coordinating with vendors for repairs, upgrades, and CAPEX planning
- Driving energy efficiency across compressors, condensers, and evaporators
- Leading technical teams and ensuring adherence to safety protocols
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's/Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
- 12–15 years of experience in commercial refrigeration (Retail/Hypermarket preferred)
- Strong expertise in cold room systems, multiplex rack systems, and refrigerants (R404A, R134a, etc.)
- Proven leadership, vendor management, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to manage multiple locations and work under pressure
