Role Overview
At Recykal, strategy is not a support function — it is a growth engine. As a Manager - Strategy, you will work alongside business leaders to shape high-impact decisions that influence growth, profitability, and long-term market positioning. You will be embedded within a business unit cluster, operating as a strategic partner who transforms ambiguity into action.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. BU Strategy & Annual Planning
- Own annual strategic planning for the assigned business unit cluster; conduct market sizing, competitive landscaping, and opportunity assessments.
- Translate strategic plans into actionable roadmaps with clear milestones, resource requirements, and success metrics.
- Work closely with BU heads to identify strategic priorities and define the direction for the year ahead.
- Monitor strategy execution, track KPIs, and provide early-warning signals when course-correction is needed.
B. Commercial & Growth Initiatives
- Lead strategic projects including product launches, pricing strategy, and market expansion initiatives.
- Build robust financial models and business cases to evaluate new opportunities and investments.
- Identify white spaces and adjacencies where Recykal can grow — and build the case to pursue them.
- Partner with Sales, Product, and Operations to ensure commercial strategies translate into measurable outcomes.
C. Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as the strategic bridge between business units and central leadership; align priorities across teams.
- Collaborate with Finance, Product, and Operations to design and execute cross-functional initiatives.
- Influence decision-making without direct authority — through clear thinking, structured framing, and credible analysis.
- Build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
D. Performance & Insights
- Define leading and lagging indicators for strategic health; build dashboards that surface the right signals for leadership.
- Develop competitive intelligence frameworks to track market dynamics and benchmark Recykal's position.
E. Executive Communication & Storytelling
- Prepare crisp, well-structured executive presentations and board-level materials for senior leadership and investors.
- Synthesize complex data and insights into clear recommendations that drive decision-making at the top.
- Communicate decisions and strategic context in a way that builds confidence and clarity across the organisation.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Strategy & Business Acumen
- 4–8 years in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, or business development.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling capabilities; comfortable building models from scratch.
- Experience solving complex, end-to-end strategic business problems with measurable impact.
Tools & Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for modelling, analysis, and executive storytelling.
- Familiarity with data visualization and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a strong plus.
- Exposure to sustainability, circular economy, or emerging market contexts is advantageous.
- MBA / equivalent postgraduate degree preferred; strong academic foundation in business or economics.
Communication & Influence
- Excellent stakeholder communication and executive presentation skills.
- Influences without direct authority; trusted across functions at all levels of the organisation.
- Strong business acumen and structured problem-solving mindset; can separate signal from noise.
- Comfortable with ambiguity; able to operate with speed and conviction when full information is unavailable.
