Job Description

What you'll do:

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager – Sourcing to manage strategic procurement activities for Low-Voltage (LV) & Medium-Voltage (MV) switchgear components, including Air Circuit Breakers (ACB), Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCB), Contactors, and Ring Main Units (RMU). The ideal candidate will have strong technical understanding of electrical protection products, supplier development capabilities, and proven commercial negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Sourcing

- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for ACB, MCB, Contactors, RMU, and associated subcomponents.

- Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for LV/MV switchgear portfolios.

- Lead cost-reduction initiatives through value engineering, alternate sourcing, and localization.

- Drive should-cost analysis based on electrical component BOMs.

- Coordinate with engineering teams for specification finalization and product industrialization.

2. Supplier Management

- Manage supplier development, audits, and performance monitoring (Quality, Delivery, Cost, EHS).

- Build a robust supply base for LV/MV electrical components, ensuring long-term capability and capacity.

- Lead supplier negotiations on commercial terms, LTAs, service agreements, and technical compliance.

- Drive supplier corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.

3. Cross‑Functional Collaboration

- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Planning for sourcing alignment.

- Support NPI projects for switchgear products, ensuring timely sourcing readiness.

- Collaborate with global sourcing teams for benchmarking and global supplier leverage.

4. Commercial & Process Responsibilities

- Conduct price benchmarking, market intelligence, and cost trend analysis for switchgear commodities.

- Ensure procurement compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.

- Manage RFQs, contract finalization, and ERP-related procurement workflows (SAP/Oracle).

- Maintain accurate procurement documentation and data integrity.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering.

- 10 +years of experience in sourcing or procurement of electrical components (LV/MV).

Skills:

- Strong knowledge of switchgear technology, including ACB, MCB, Contactors, RMU, CT/PT, relays, copper busbars, insulating parts.

- Proven negotiation and supplier management skills.

- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP / Oracle).

- Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

Preferred Competencies

- Experience in Indian and global switchgear supplier markets.

- Knowledge of relevant standards (IEC, IS).

- Capability in reading electrical drawings, schematics, and BOMs.

- Expertise in cost breakdown & should-cost modeling.
