Manager, Software Engineering (Ruby or Java)

Our Platform Automation Development team plays a pivotal role in driving the automation of cloud infrastructure management, focusing specifically on the lifecycle of instances and databases. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining automation tools and processes that streamline the provisioning, scaling, migration, and maintenance of critical infrastructure components, ensuring seamless and efficient operations.

The team primarily works on automating the lifecycle management of cloud instances, with a focus on MariaDB and RaptorDB databases, as we'll as supporting migration processes. With the ongoing efforts to redesign and modernize the automation framework, the team is at the forefront of building scalable, reliable, and high-performance solutions to meet the needs of the organization s growing infrastructure.

What you get to do in this role:

• Duties include managing product and/ or application development activities in a high pace environment.
• Responsible for the overall Software development life cycle for product and/or application implementation as we'll as custom built web applications on ServiceNow platform.
• Work closely with program management, product management and support/satellite teams for new features and upgrades.
• Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments.
• Contribute and participate in reviews for architecture, design and code.
• Exercise appropriate influence to ensure commitment to customers and deliverable quality products.
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the development team within an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Management of departmental resource, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing & maintaining a best-of-class platform development team.

To be successful in this role you have:

• Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AIs potential impact on the function or industry.
• 10 to 12 years or more of software development experience (Ruby or Java, Javascript).
• Very strong technical skills with a proven record of strong architecture & design experience.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience building and managing development teams delivering high quality enterprise ready software within a global setup.
• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• A strong track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional, projects.
• Hands-on engineer who has organically evolved/grown to a management role.
• Experience with Cloud Application Development Platforms/ AWS/ Azure/ Google Cloud will be a big plus.
• Excellent written, verbal communication and Inter-Personal skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
• Proven ability to hire top talent and build out winning team.
• Knowledge of web development frameworks, integration platform, source code control systems
