Primary Purpose
To take full ownership of the SAP BASIS operations and resource management at ZICC, ensuring the stability, performance, and security of SAP applications through strategic planning, proactive maintenance, and collaboration across global teams.
Responsibilities
- Technology Leadership: Continuously stay informed on emerging technologies to assess and implement optimal SAP BASIS solutions aligned with Zoetis ERP needs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Establish and manage protocols to work with various teams on system design, technical build, testing, and operations.
- Global Systems Deployment: Collaborate with ITS and global teams to ensure availability, performance improvements, and business continuity.
- Hosting and Infrastructure Oversight: Partner with hosting and infrastructure teams for implementation, documentation, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
- Vendor Management: Conduct regular status calls with hosting providers to review maintenance, SLA adherence, and root cause analysis.
- Emergency Support: Lead resolution during critical system failures by coordinating multidisciplinary efforts to minimize impact and ensure transparency.
- Documentation and SOPs: Develop and maintain technical operation procedures (TOPs).
- Project Involvement: Provide SAP BASIS expertise in projects including upgrades and migrations.
- System Monitoring: Manage performance tuning, health checks, and job monitoring.
- Compliance and Audit: Support compliance efforts with SOPs, FDA/global regulations, and internal audits such as ITGC and SOX.
Organizational Relationships
- Collaborate with global business stakeholders to understand requirements and align technical operations.
- Engage with infrastructure, implementation, and audit partners to ensure aligned system delivery and compliance.
- Coordinate with developers and BASIS administrators to resolve issues and implement technical improvements.
Resources Managed
- Financial Accountability: Oversight of vendor contracts, cloud infrastructure billing, and project budgeting.
- Supervision: Manage a BASIS support team, including mentoring and resource planning.
Education and Experience
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT Infrastructure, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience:
- 8+ years of SAP BASIS administration experience, including end-to-end implementations, upgrades, and migrations.
- Minimum 3 years of cloud-based SAP operations and 1 year of IT project management.
- Background in enterprise infrastructure, cloud environments, and compliance in life sciences/pharma preferred.
Technical Skills Requirements
- SAP BASIS Expertise: In-depth knowledge of system administration across SAP ECC, S/4HANA, APO, PI, MDG, GRC, Solution Manager, HANA DB, Vistex, and Hybris.
- System Management: Experience with performance tuning, change management, transport management, and troubleshooting (ABAP dumps, buffer tuning, workload analysis).
- Database & OS: Proficiency in Oracle, SQL Server, MaxDB, and OS environments (Unix/Windows).
- Cloud & Integration: Hands-on experience with MS Azure, Onapsis, OpenText, and system integration design.
- Disaster Recovery: Strong understanding of backup/restore practices and DR exercises.
- Audit & Security: Experience with SOX, ITGC, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
Physical Position Requirements
- Work Hours: 3:00 AM to 12:00 PM EST (ICC Second Shift)
- Flexibility: Additional EST overlap may be required during production go-live and high-priority escalations.
- Travel: Occasional travel may be required for global coordination or project support.
