Job Description

India Power is inviting applications from seasoned HSE professionals to lead and strengthen the company's Safety culture across the company's power distribution operations in the Asansol-Ranigunj belt.

The role requires the incumbent to be a certified/qualified Safety Officer for power utilities with a degree in electrical engineering, withmore than 10 years experience in a safety role, and strong knowledge of CEA regulations, ISO Standards, ESG / OHS systems.

Role Overview

The Manager – SHE will be responsible for planning, implementing, and continuously improving the HSE management system covering Distribution substations, Overhead & underground networks, Live-line and shutdown works, Contractor and public safety. This role is critical to ensuring zero-harm operations, statutory compliance, and public safety across substations and distribution networks.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

  • Develop and implement SHE policies, SOPs, and best safety practices across substations, field operations, and contractor workforce.
  • Ensure compliance with CEA Safety Regulations 2010, Electricity Act 2003, Factories Act, and State Electrical Inspectorate requirements
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, HIRA, JSA, and PTW processes.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and other govt. Officials / departments, if required.

Contractor & Workforce Safety

  • Drive contractor safety management systems including pre-qualification, safety induction, toolbox talks, PPE compliance and PTW system enforcement.
  • Monitor and improve contractor safety performance

Incident Management

  • Lead investigations into electrical accidents, near-misses, fires, and public safety incidents, root cause analysis and corrective / preventive actions.
  • Conduct RCA, implement CAPA, and manage statutory reporting with regulators

Training & Safety Culture

  • Design and deliver safety training for employees and contract workforce
  • Promote a strong safety culture through Behaviour Based Safety initiatives, safety awareness campaigns, drills, and emergency preparedness programs

Environment & Public Safety

  • Ensure compliance with environmental norms (transformer oil handling, waste disposal, spill control, noise & emissions)
  • Lead public electrical safety awareness initiatives and RoW safety support

Reporting & Systems

  • Monitor HSE KPI's such as LTIFR, near-miss reporting, safety observation and closure effectiveness.
  • Maintain SHE documentation, dashboards, and MIS reports
  • Support ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 audits and ESG-aligned initiatives
