To plan, lead, and manage all plant maintenance engineering activities to ensure high equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and uninterrupted production in a pharmaceutical formulation manufacturing facility.

Job Responsibilities / Deliverables
- Maintenance & Engineering Operations
Lead preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance for all production, utility, and facility equipment
Ensure optimal performance of formulation equipment & instrument
Develop and implement maintenance schedules and SOPs
Minimize downtime through effective root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions
- Regulatory Compliance & GMP
Ensure compliance with cGMP, WHO-GMP, USFDA, EU-GMP, and other regulatory requirements
Support regulatory inspections, audits, and CAPA implementation
Ensure proper documentation of maintenance records, logbooks, and change controls
Participate in qualification and validation activities (IQ, OQ, PQ)
- Team Leadership & Development
Manage and mentor maintenance engineers, supervisors, technicians, and contract staff
Plan manpower deployment and shift schedules
Conduct training programs on equipment operation, safety, and GMP practices
- Project & Capital Management
Lead installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment and facilities
Coordinate with vendors, OEMs, and contractors
Prepare and manage maintenance budgets and CAPEX projects
Evaluate new technologies to improve reliability and efficiency
- Utilities & Energy Management
Oversee operation and maintenance of utilities (HVAC, boilers, chillers, compressors, DG sets, ETP, STP) as needed
Implement energy conservation and cost-reduction initiatives
- Safety, EHS & Risk Management
Ensure adherence to EHS standards and plant safety procedures
Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety regulations
Investigate incidents and implement preventive measures
Qualifications Education
Bachelor's degree in mechanical / electrical / Instrumentation / Chemical Engineering
MBA or additional certification in Maintenance / Project Management is an advantage
10–15 years of experience in plant maintenance engineering
Minimum 5 years in a managerial role within a pharmaceutical formulation manufacturing facility
Strong knowledge of pharma manufacturing equipment and utilities
In-depth understanding of GMP and regulatory compliance
Leadership and people management skills
Problem-solving and analytical abilities
Budgeting, planning, and project management skills
Familiarity with CMMS and maintenance planning tools
