The Role

  • We are seeking a high-performing Purchase Manager Strategic Sourcing to lead the development and execution of sourcing strategies for Key Starting Materials (KSMs), intermediates, and advanced starting materials (ASMs) supporting our API portfolio.
  • This role is critical to ensuring long-term supply security, cost competitiveness, and regulatory compliance across global supply markets. The position will drive supplier development, commercial negotiations, and supply chain risk mitigation, while partnering closely with R&D, regulatory affairs, QA/QC, manufacturing, and product management teams to support portfolio growth and operational excellence.
  • The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial acumen, deep knowledge of chemical supply chains, and the ability to build resilient supplier ecosystems across global markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing and category management strategies for KSMs, intermediates, and critical raw materials supporting API manufacturing.
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify global supplier partners to strengthen supply security and drive cost competitiveness.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and establish long-term supply agreements to deliver value across cost, quality, delivery reliability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Drive supplier base optimization, including vendor consolidation, supplier development, and strategic partnerships.
  • Scout and develop new suppliers across global markets, particularly India, China, and Europe, ensuring alignment with technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead technical and commercial supplier qualification in collaboration with R&D, QA, and regulatory teams.
  • Monitor and improve supplier performance through structured evaluation metrics covering cost, quality, delivery, and compliance.
  • Participate in cross-functional portfolio and supply planning discussions to align sourcing strategies with product development, commercialization, and lifecycle management.
  • Identify supply chain risks, cost drivers, and sourcing opportunities, providing strategic input into make-vs-buy decisions, backward integration initiatives, and cost modeling.
  • Support procurement planning for new product introduction (NPI), scale-up, and commercialization activities.
  • Monitor global market trends, pricing dynamics, and regulatory developments affecting key raw materials and intermediates.
  • Develop and implement supply risk mitigation strategies, including dual sourcing, geographic diversification, and supply continuity planning.
  • Collaborate with R&D, QA/QC, regulatory, manufacturing, and planning teams to ensure technical validation, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted material availability.
  • Act as the primary interface between suppliers and internal stakeholders, driving supplier relationship management and performance reviews.
  • Support customer and regulatory requirements related to supply chain transparency and raw material traceability where applicable.
