To support financial operations, ensuring accurate accounting, statutory compliance, and timely reporting. The role requires hands-on experience in management, accounting systems, payroll coordination, audits, and regulatory compliance including FCRA.

Role Overview:
The Finance Manager will play a pivotal role at Animal Rahat, with key responsibilities and accountability in managing Animal Rahat's financial resources with the highest standard of integrity, efficiency, propriety and confidentiality.
This requires a self-motivated and results-oriented professional with strong accounting, planning and organizational skills; a continuous learning and improvement mindset; with sound decision-making and problem-solving abilities; and who can work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
The Manager will support the Director of Finance in developing and coordinating the strategic financial direction of Animal Rahat.
Accounting & Financial Management
· Maintain books of accounts in accordance with accounting standards
· Ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions on Tally or other designated software
· Prepare and submit reviewed weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports related to donations
· Line management of an accounting officer(s)
· Manage online transactions in the absence of this office
· Handle bank reconciliations, journal entries, and ledger scrutiny
· Monitor expenses and ensure budget adherence
· Ensure that domestic and FCRA books of accounts are maintained separately
· Ensure adequate financial monitoring of Animal Rahat units and sanctuaries, including review of budgets and quarterly financial reporting
Statutory Compliance
· Ensure compliance with Income Tax, PT, TDS, GST, ESIC, EPF, and other statutory regulations
· Manage filings and returns within deadlines
· Maintain proper documentation for audits and inspections
FCRA Compliance & Donor Reporting
· Handle accounting and reporting related to FCRA funds
· Ensure adherence to FCRA regulations and reporting requirements
· Review donor utilisation reports
· Coordinate with program teams to ensure proper utilisation and reporting of restricted funds
Payroll & Employee Payments
· Execute payroll processing and verification
· Coordinate with Director of Human Resources (DHR) for salary inputs and exits
· Ensure statutory deductions and filings related to payroll
· Ensure proper work on HRMS systems for expense and payroll (e.g. Pocket HRMS)
Audit & Reporting
· Manage internal and external audits
· Prepare financial reports, MIS, and variance analysis
· Provide data and schedules required by auditors
· Review and provide schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation required by auditors
· Prepare annual statutory accounts, ensuring they meet all statutory and best practice accounting requirements
Budgeting & Financial Planning
· Assist Director of Finance in annual budgeting and periodic forecasting
· Track actual vs budget and highlight variances
· Any other work assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required
· Master's degree in commerce from a recognised university or college will be an added advantage
· Minimum of five years of professional experience in finance management, with demonstrated experience in a managerial role
· Excellent presentation and documentation skills
· Knowledge and experience of working on Financial ERP systems like Tally
· Excellent IT skills, particularly with Excel spreadsheets, word processing, accounting software, web browsing, email and report writing software
· Experience of managing taxation matters, with desirable exposure to FCRA compliance
· Experience of negotiating, drafting and managing contracts
· Excellent negotiation skills preferred
· Good communication skills in Hindi, Marathi, and English preferred
· Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
· Proven written and verbal communication skills
· Proven ability to maintain confidentiality on all financial matters
· Knowledge of Animal Rahat's areas of work and animal rights issues
