Role Overview
Medline Industries is seeking a
Manager Network Security Manager to lead its enterprise-wide network security program in a global, cloud-first, and highly regulated healthcare environment. This role owns the strategy, design, and day-to-day operations of network and perimeter security across onpremises, hybrid, and public cloud platforms.
The position requires a strong people leader with hands-on technical depth, operational rigor, and the ability to partner effectively with Infrastructure, Cloud, SOC, Audit, and Compliance teams. The Network Security Manager will be accountable for ensuring Medline's network security controls are resilient, scalable, auditable, and aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of network security engineers and analysts, including performance management, skill development, and succession planning
- Establish clear operating models, on-call/escalation structures, and ownership across a 12x7 security operations environment
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex network security incidents and high-risk operational issues
Network & Cloud Security Operations
- Own day-to-day network security operations including monitoring, threat detection, investigation, containment, and remediation
- Ensure consistent execution of operational processes, runbooks, SLAs, and KPIs across network security services
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, tooling optimization, and operational maturity
Architecture & Engineering
- Design, implement, and maintain secure network architectures across:
- Onpremises data centers
- Hybrid environments
- Public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
- Own perimeter and internal network security controls, including:
- Next-generation firewalls
- Secure web gateways / SSE
- VPN and remote access
- DDoS protection
- Network segmentation and microsegmentation
- Provide network security design reviews for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS platforms
- Build and operate cloud-native and automated network security capabilities
Threat & Vulnerability Management
- Lead network-focused vulnerability identification, risk assessment, prioritization, and remediation
- Ensure effective log ingestion, correlation, and visibility across network and cloud security platforms
- Partner with SOC teams on detection use cases and incident response related to network-based threats
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Develop, maintain, and enforce network security policies, standards, and technical baselines
- Support internal and external audits including HITRUST, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements
- Ensure architecture and controls are auditable and aligned with frameworks such as NIST SP 80053
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner closely with Infrastructure, Cloud, Application, SOC, and ITSM teams to embed security into platforms and designs
- Provide clear communication to leadership on risk posture, incidents, operational health, and improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate architectural, operational, and procedural documentation
Skills & Knowledge Requirements
Leadership & Operational Skills
- Proven experience managing 810 network security engineers/analysts in an enterprise environment
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience running large-scale, process-driven security operations with measurable outcomes
Technical Expertise
- Strong foundation in networking fundamentals, TCP/IP, routing, switching, and traffic analysis
- Deep hands-on and architectural experience with technologies such as:
- Zscaler (ZIA/ZPA)
- Palo Alto Networks (firewalls, Panorama)
- Check Point
- Cloudflare (WAF, DDoS, edge security)
- Illumio (micro-segmentation)
- Cisco AnyConnect
- DataDome or similar bot/DDoS protection platforms
- Experience with traditional and next-generation firewalls (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Check Point)
- Strong experience securing hybrid and public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc..)
Specialized Knowledge
- Network segmentation and micro-segmentation strategies
- Eastwest traffic protection and server-level firewalls
- Network vulnerability management and remediation
- Log analysis, event correlation, and threat investigation
- Security frameworks and compliance standards (NIST, HIPAA/HITRUST)
- Design and optimization of enterprise-scale network security solutions

Academic & Professional Qualifications
