Job Description

Role Overview:

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. The role ensures that MEP works are designed, installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with project requirements, applicable codes, quality standards, budgets, and timelines.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Design Review & Engineering Coordination

  • The Project Planning & Scheduling function includes comprehensive design review and engineering coordination to ensure seamless integration of all MEPF systems and hospital-specific services. This involves detailed review and coordination of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, drainage, fire-fighting, and ELV system designs, including specialized HVAC requirements for operation theatres, ICUs, isolation rooms, and other critical healthcare spaces. The role ensures that all designs comply with applicable healthcare and building standards such as NABH, NBC, HTM, and relevant local authority norms. Responsibilities include reviewing load calculations, layouts, schematics, and BOQs, identifying design clashes, and ensuring effective multidisciplinary coordination among architectural, structural, and medical planning teams.

  • A key aspect of the role is the coordination of hospital-specific systems, including advanced HVAC systems for operation theatres, ICUs, NICUs, isolation wards, and CSSD areas, incorporating AHUs, laminar airflow systems, and HEPA filtration. The role also covers oversight of Medical Gas Pipeline Systems, including oxygen, vacuum, medical air, AGSS, and PTS, as well as sewage and effluent treatment systems such as STP and ETP, ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable operation aligned with healthcare standards.

Execution & Site Management

  • During execution and site management, the role involves supervising MEP works in accordance with approved drawings and technical specifications. This includes reviewing and approving shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals, coordinating closely with contractors and vendors to ensure timely execution, and continuously monitoring quality, safety, and adherence to project schedules. Technical guidance is provided on-site to address RFIs and resolve construction-related challenges effectively.

Testing, Commissioning & Handover

  • The role also leads testing, commissioning, and handover activities for all MEP systems. This includes planning and supervising testing and commissioning procedures, ensuring proper system integration, performance validation, and readiness for clinical operations. Responsibilities extend to reviewing as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and complete handover documentation, as well as supporting statutory inspections and obtaining necessary approvals from relevant authorities.

Quality, Compliance & Safety

  • Quality, compliance, and safety are integral to the role, with responsibility for ensuring adherence to applicable codes and standards such as IS, NBC, NFPA, ASHRAE, Electrical Inspectorate norms, and Fire NOC requirements. The role enforces safe working practices during installation and commissioning, proactively addresses compliance issues, and ensures that all systems meet regulatory and operational requirements.

Vendor & Consultant Coordination

  • The role also involves close coordination with vendors and consultants, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and MGPS specialists. Through effective collaboration, the position supports value engineering and cost optimization initiatives while ensuring that patient safety, system reliability, and regulatory compliance are never compromised.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of hospital MEP systems
  • Coordination and problem-solving ability
  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance and clinical workflows
  • Execution-oriented with documentation skills
  • Communication with design consultants, architecture and contractors and internal team and all key stakeholders of the project

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in B. Tech - Electrical
  • 15+ years of experience in large-scale MEP
  • Prior exposure to hospitals, luxury hotels, or premium residential developments preferred.
