Enterprise & Cloud Backup Administrator (L3)
(Cloud Backup & Security Protection)
Role Overview
The L3 Enterprise & Cloud Backup Administrator is responsible for
advanced administration, design support, security integration, and escalation handling of enterprise and cloud backup environments. This role focuses on
data protection, cyber resilience, ransomware defense, and regulatory compliance across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Backup & Recovery (Enterprise + Cloud)
- Administer and optimize enterprise backup solutions (Commvault / Veeam / NetBackup)
- Manage backup and restore operations for on-prem, hybrid, and cloud workloads
- Handle complex restore scenarios (cross-region, DR, ransomware recovery)
- Define and enforce backup policies, retention, and compliance controls
- Support backup for VMware, Nutanix AHV, physical servers, databases, and SaaS
Cloud Backup Administration
- Administer cloud-native and hybrid backup solutions:
- AWS Backup, Azure Backup, GCP Backup
- Object storagebased backups (S3, Azure Blob, immutability)
- Design and manage cross-region and cross-account backup strategies
- Optimize cloud backup cost, performance, and scalability
Security & Cyber Protection
- Implement and manage immutable backups and air-gapped recovery
- Design ransomware protection and cyber-recovery workflows
- Integrate backup solutions with security controls and access policies
- Ensure encryption (at-rest & in-transit), RBAC, MFA, and audit logging
- Support security audits, compliance (ISO, SOX, PCI, RBI, GDPR)
Escalation & Architecture Support
- Act as L3 escalation point for complex backup and recovery incidents
- Perform RCA, RFO, and preventive action planning
- Work closely with security, cloud, storage, network, and SOC teams
- Support backup architecture reviews and modernization initiatives
- Mentor L2 administrators and review SOPs/runbooks
Required Skills
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on expertise in Commvault / Veeam (mandatory)
- Deep knowledge of Cloud Backup (AWS / Azure / GCP)
- Experience with Immutable Backups & Ransomware Recovery
- VMware & Nutanix AHV advanced knowledge
- Strong understanding of SAN/NAS, Object Storage
- OS knowledge: Linux & Windows
- Security concepts: encryption, IAM, RBAC, Zero Trust (backup context)
Automation & Tools (Preferred)
- PowerShell / Bash / Python (backup automation)
- API-based backup integrations
- Monitoring & reporting tools
Experience & Profile
- 915+ years in enterprise backup & data protection
- Proven L3 support or lead-level experience
- Experience supporting regulated or mission-critical environments
- Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
