Position Title: Manager Position Type : -L3
I) Position Summary/Job Discription: L3 Backup Administrator is responsible for the architecture, stability, security, and continuous improvement of the enterprise backup and recovery environment. This role owns advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, disaster recovery readiness, and platform optimization across backup technologies such as Veeam backup & Replicaiton and Cloud and Commvault
The position serves as the highest escalation point for backup-related incidents, provides technical leadership to L1/L2 teams, and works closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure data protection strategies meet business, compliance, and SLA requirements
Roles & Responsibilities:
Veeam Backup & Replication and Cloud
- Design, review, and optimize Veeam Backup & Replication architecture
- Define backup strategies aligned with RTO/RPO and business requirements
- Design Scale-Out Backup Repositories (SOBR) and object storage integration
- Plan and implement immutability and ransomware protection
- Capacity planning for backup storage and infrastructure
- Configure and optimize backup, backup copy, and replication jobs
- Own Sev-1 / Sev-2 incidents related to backup failures or DR
- Perform deep troubleshooting using Veeam logs and analytics
- Identify root cause and implement permanent fixes
- Handle escalations from L1/L2 teams
- Backup security compliance and hardening
- Configure and schedule backup of VM level, File level, MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Postgress, SAP Hana, Etc.
- Restoration backup of VM, File level, MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Postgress, SAP Hana,
- Intigrate the both platform with backup like , VMware vSphere, Nutanix, Hyper-v, Azure, AWS, Google Cloud.
- Configure and schedule the backup of cloud infra like Azure, AWS, Google Cloud.
- Restoration backup of VM, File level, MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Postgress, SAP Hana on cloud platform.
- Manage , configure , troubleshoot Linux hardened repositories.
- Plan and execute DR drills and restore validations
- Strond understanding of port opening for VM level, File Level, Database level like MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SAP Hana, Etc
- Maintain and update day to day Backup policy document.
- Create, Maintain and update Backup operations SOPs.
Commvault:-
- Own the Commvault backup architecture, including CommServe, MediaAgents, storage policies, and secondary copies
- Design and optimize backup solutions aligned with business RTO/RPO
- Review and recommend improvements to backup architecture and scalability
- Plan and execute Commvault upgrades, hotfixes, and platform enhancements
- Perform deep troubleshooting using Commvault logs and diagnostics
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement preventive actions
- Own escalations with Commvault OEM support
- Review recurring issues and drive permanent fixes
- Perform storage and capacity planning for future growth
- Plan and execute DR drills and restore validation exercises
- Ensure recovery procedures meet defined SLAs
- Configure and schedule backup of VM level, File level, MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Postgress, SAP Hana, Etc.
- Restoration backup of VM, File level, MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Postgress, SAP Hana,
- Create and configure storage policy , schedule policy.
- Install and configure backup agent on various platform like , Windows,Linux, Unix platform, etc.
- Configure and schedule the backup of cloud infra like Azure, AWS, Google Cloud.
- Restoration backup of VM, File level, MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Postgress, SAP Hana on cloud platform.
- Maintain and update day to day Backup policy document.
- Maintain and update Backup operations SOPs.
Any IT graduate ( BCA/MCA,BSc/MSc(IT),BE,BTech)
Veeam Backup & Replications:-
- Deep hands-on experience with Veeam Backup & Replication (latest versions)
- Architecture design and optimization of Veeam environments
- Upgrade Veeam Backup & Replication on Prem ,Veeam backup for Azure, Veeam Backup AWS.
- Advanced troubleshooting of backup, restore, replication, and copy jobs
- Expertise in Veeam proxies, repositories, scale-out backup repositories (SOBR)
- Performance tuning for backup windows, throughput, and latency
- Experience with Veeam Enterprise Manager and REST APIs
- Backup encryption, immutability (Linux hardened repository), and security best practices
- Strong knowledge on SQL, SAP Oracle, MySQL DB restoration.
- Platform & Infrastructure Knowledge on VMware vSphere , Nutanix, Hyper-V for backup integration.
- Storage integration (SAN, NAS, Object Storage S3/Azure Blob)
- Windows & Linux OS administration for backup.
- VM, file-level, application-aware restores (SQL, Oracle, AD, Exchange)
- Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) in Veeam
- Backup data immutability and ransomware protection
- MFA integration and security hardening
- Compliance reporting and audit support
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring failures.
- Handling critical Sev-1 incidents and outages.
- OEM (Veeam) case management and escalations
- Log analysis and performance diagnostics.
- Backup policy automation and reporting
- Documentation and governance.
- Change management and CAB participation
Commvault :-
- Deep hands-on experience with Commvault Complete Data Protection
- Strong understanding of CommServe, MediaAgent, Client, and Storage Policy architecture
- Design and optimization of Commvault backup architecture for large-scale environments
- Advanced troubleshooting of backup, restore, and auxiliary copy failures
- Expertise in deduplication, compression, and storage optimization
- Handling Commvault upgrades, hotfixes, and version compatibility
- Backup and recovery of VM-Level backup for the platform of Nutanix, Hyper-v, VMware vSphere.
- File system backup for windows and Linux
- Application aware backup of SQL, Oracle , AD , Exchange.
- Backup copy, secondary copy, and offsite DR replication
- Disaster recovery planning and execution using Commvault.
- Ownership of critical Sev-1/Sev-2 backup incidents
- Root cause analysis (RCA) and preventive action planning
- OEM (Commvault) case management and escalations
- Log analysis and advanced diagnostics
- Ability to mentor L1/L2 teams
- Certification :- Veeam & Commvault
- ITIL Certification

9to 10 + years of hands on experience in enterprise backup and recovery (Veeam, Commvault On Prem or Cloud)
