Job Description
Roles & responsibilities
- Provide tax compliance and advisory services to partnerships and/or corporations for a variety of clients from Fortune 100 companies to emerging businesses
- Manage a portfolio of clients of varying size and scope and act as the point of contact for internal and external clients
- Manage, counsel and train teams of tax professionals and assistants working on client projects
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality tax service and guidance, tax compliance process and technology design
- Keep up to date on current tax practices, new technologies and tools used in client service delivery and participate in technology or process development initiatives
- Participate in business development opportunities and additional compliance pursuits
- Manage risk and financial performance of engagements which may include project budgets, resource planning, status and financial metrics
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or MBA finance from reputable universities with excellent academic result, majoring in Accounting, Taxation or Finance. EA/CPA certification required
- Minimum 7 years of relevant tax compliance experience in an accounting firm, corporation, and/or law firm
- Experience with taxation of relevant service lines. i.e. partnerships, corporations, consolidations and ASC 740
- Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills and experience with MS Office applications and third-party tax reporting software programs
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to articulate complex information
Federal Tax
Demonstrates application of problem solving and analytical skills to articulate and resolve issues
Strong project management skills to guide team in meeting deliverables
Strong tax technical skills in 1 or 2 of the following areas: Subchapter C, Consolidated Returns, Partnerships and LLCs, Tax Accounting Methods and Periods, ASC 740, US Inbound/Outbound tax compliance reporting, IRS Practice and Procedure
Demonstrates consistent ability to effectively coach, develop, and manage staff and lead project teams.
Certification in taxation preferred (e.g., CPA, EA)
State and Local Tax
Strong technical skills in 1 or 2 of the following state and local tax areas: multi-jurisdictional, income franchise and indirect tax concepts. Ability to advise on compliance and advisory state tax matters.
Proficiency in advanced state and local tax concepts including combined/consolidated and separate state filings, partnership structuring, allocation and apportionment sourcing and PTET analysis.
Knowledge of advanced partnership and corporate state concepts such as lower-tier withholding and entity-level taxes, separate vs. combined filings, franchise taxes, etc.
Assist in the review of annual updates to firm resources for compliance, such as the State Compliance Workbook, partnership matrices, e-file summary chart, and filing matrices. Additionally, lead and participate in firm initiatives for streamlining state processes.
