Job Description

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Forensic Accounting and Claims Services (FACS) team at Knowledge Services - Marsh Risk. This role will be based in Mumbai. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Job Title: Manager, Forensic Accounting and Claims Services

The Knowledge Services team is an integral part of the future strategy of FACS and Risk Consulting. The FACS team in Mumbai comprises finance & accounting professionals engaged in supporting Marsh colleagues and clients across the globe with the quantification and settlement of complex insurance claims.

Forensic accounting is a bespoke service offered to Marsh clients by the FACS team. The team works closely with other Marsh colleagues across the globe to provide Property Damage and Business Interruption loss claim estimation, historical financial analysis, visualizations, and forensic accounting services to clients across a variety of industries. The role responsibilities include the following:

  • Review the client's business processes to understand the potential financial impact of damage related to catastrophic events like fire, flood, product recall, or other covered losses.
  • Interact with global Marsh FACS colleagues and client personnel to obtain information and present measured damages.
  • Perform quantitative analysis of financial statements and documents necessary to quantify and present claims to insurers, with an emphasis on Business Interruption claims.
  • Review and compile schedule of documents such as PO, invoices, quotations etc. for substantiating the costs claimed under covered losses.
  • Assist with the preparation of pre-loss Business Interruption reviews to address the adequacy of current client insurance policy wording and limits.

We will count on you to:

Delivery Management

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Claims Preparation and Pre-Loss BI Review model and processes.
  • Understand the key players involved in the Claims Lifecycle.
  • Understand investigative procedures, conduct investigations and apply forensic analysis techniques to gather and assess evidence effectively.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of the client to understand business processes & controls, gather data, deliver reliable, actionable insights throughout the investigative process.
  • Prepare detailed work papers, draft comprehensive and clear reports to communicate findings and recommendations to clients.
  • Understand the client's financial statement and provide financial analysis on the components of financial statements.
  • Support in drawing out the but-for scenario using financial modeling techniques with revenue, production, order and such other related financial information available.
  • Provide walkthroughs of claims or pre-loss models to Marsh stakeholders, detailing the loss valuation assumptions.
  • Partner seamlessly with other team members within IKS FACS.
  • Collaborate with other teams within IKS Mumbai to upgrade the current value proposition and pioneer innovative solutions to claim preparation and data management related problems.

Stakeholder Management

  • Partner/Collaborate with other global FACS colleagues. Closely liaise with relevant stakeholders through continuous communication and contribute to their success.
  • Co-ordinate with Marsh FACS colleagues from the client-region as well as client personnel for gathering information in a timely manner and providing progress updates.
  • Support in promoting IKS through regional engagement initiatives and develop new touchpoints with global colleagues.

What you need to have:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or completed degree in Master of Business Administration, Finance.
  • 5-6 years professional experience in accounting firm (Big 4) or similar professional services firm.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact with all levels of internal and external business partners.
  • Ability to work independently and think critically regarding financial statement analysis.
  • Ability to partner with peers and junior colleague to deliver high-quality projects.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to preparing error-free analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills.
  • Project Management Skills - Tight control on quality and timelines.

What makes you stand out

  • Prior experience in Business Interruption insurance claims is highly desirable.
  • Experience of working on fraud investigations, desktop fraud risk assessments and conducting client workshops will be preferred.
  • Knowledge of drafting fact-finding reports and presentations.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial data modelling and loss valuations.
  • VBA Macros and experience in automating tasks.
  • Building dashboards or visualizations in Excel or PowerBI.
  • Professional working proficiency in English required but additional linguistic skills in European languages (Spanish, French, or German) is a plus.
