Manager (Farm Operations)

Shroomery is an urban mushroom farm growing high-quality gourmet mushrooms using sustainable farming practices and innovative cultivation techniques. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager to oversee daily operations and ensure the continued success of our farm.

We have grown exponentially over the last one year and are looking for bright, fun(gi) individuals to drive the next chapter of our growth story.

The Farm Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of mushroom production, from seed to harvest. This role involves overseeing a team of 70 employees (and growing), maintaining production schedules, ensuring quality control, and implementing best practices to maximise yield and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Farm Management: Oversee all daily operations of the mushroom farm, including spawn preparation, growing, and harvesting processes.
• Team Leadership: Supervise and train farm staff, including assigning tasks, managing schedules, and providing guidance to ensure efficient operation.
• Production Planning: Develop and implement production schedules, monitor growth cycles, and manage resources to meet production targets.
• Quality Control: Ensure the highest quality standards for mushroom production, including monitoring environmental conditions, inspecting produce, and addressing any issues promptly.
• Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm equipment and infrastructure to ensure smooth operations.
• Inventory Management: Manage inventory of supplies, equipment, and mushroom products, including ordering and tracking stock levels.
• Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health, safety, including maintaining sanitary conditions and proper use of safety equipment.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of production data, staff performance, and other relevant information for reporting and analysis.
• Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to implement new techniques and improve farm operations.

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of managerial experience in an agricultural field. Past experience in mushroom farming is not mandatory.

Education: Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field is preferred.
