Manager Engineering – System Engineering
Position Summary
Seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and enable a System Engineering team within the Autonomy and Automation Product Group. This role is accountable for guiding the team responsible for system‑level design, integration, and technical governance across complex software products operating in both on‑premises and cloud environments. The position ensures the team consistently delivers end‑to‑end system coherence, and effective integration with various software and hardware systems.
The role will lead the establishment and application of strong system engineering practices across the team, including requirements decomposition, interface definition, cross‑component design alignment, and proactive technical risk management across programs. Through close partnership with product, platform, and delivery teams, the role ensures the team translates product intent into executable and sustainable system designs that meet functional, non‑functional, and operational requirements of the product.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a multi‑disciplinary system engineering team setting clear expectations and creating an environment that enables technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Guide the team in owning system‑level design, integration across complex software products operating in on‑premises and cloud environments, ensuring architectural integrity and end‑to‑end system coherence.
- Ensure the team establishes and consistently applies system engineering practices, including requirements decomposition, interface definition, cross‑component design alignment, and traceability across product lines and platform initiatives.
- Enable the team to define and validate system architectures that meet functional, non‑functional, operational, scalability, reliability, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Foster strong collaboration between system engineers, product, platform, and delivery teams, ensuring product intent is translated into executable system designs
- Hold the team accountable for proactively identifying, communicating, and mitigating system‑level technical risks, including dependency management, integration readiness, and legacy platform constraints.
- Ensure effective participation of the team in architecture and design reviews
- Ensure the team operates effectively within SAFe / Agile environments, contributing system‑engineering inputs, architectural runway, and integration considerations into program increment and sprint planning activities.
Required Skills & Experience
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering and technical leadership, including 7+ years in system engineering roles, within large, global organizations.
- Proven system engineering leadership across system architecture, integration, and technical governance.
- Experience leading cross‑functional engineering teams and aligning product, platform, and delivery stakeholders.
- Background delivering large‑scale, mission‑critical systems in industrial domains such as telematics / IoT, autonomy, aerospace or other similar domains
- Strong experience with system integration, dependency management, across both on‑premises and cloud environments.
- Experience in translating business needs into scalable system designs and manage system‑level risks and trade‑offs.
- Solid understanding of system engineering fundamentals, including requirements, interfaces, architecture alignment, and non‑functional requirements.
- Experience operating within Agile / SAFe environments, ensuring system engineering inputs are reflected in planning.
- Clear, effective technical communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
