Key Responsibilities Legal & Compliance
  • Ensure all collection activities comply with local laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Monitor changes in debt recovery, consumer protection, and insolvency laws and advise management accordingly.
  • Draft, review, and update legal notices, demand letters, settlement agreements, and recovery-related documentation.
Litigation & Recovery Management
  • Manage and oversee legal recovery cases, including civil suits, arbitration, insolvency proceedings, and execution matters.
  • Coordinate with external lawyers, law firms, and court representatives to ensure timely case progress.
  • Review case strategies, pleadings, and court filings to maximize recovery and minimize legal risk.
Collections Strategy Support
  • Work closely with collections, credit, and risk teams to design legally compliant recovery strategies.
  • Provide legal guidance on difficult, high-value, or escalated collection cases.
  • Approve write-offs, settlements, and restructuring proposals from a legal perspective.
Team & Stakeholder Management
  • Lead and mentor junior legal officers or legal executives handling collection matters.
  • Act as a key point of contact between internal teams, external counsel, regulators, and courts.
  • Prepare legal MIS, recovery reports, and case status updates for senior management.
Risk Management
  • Identify legal risks in collection practices and recommend corrective actions.
  • Handle customer complaints, regulatory notices, and legal escalations related to collections.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) Master's degree preferred.
  • Licensed to practice law in [country/region].
  • 6-10+ years of experience in collections, debt recovery, banking, NBFC, or financial services legal roles.
  • Strong experience in litigation management, insolvency laws, and enforcement proceedings.
