Project Role: Manager - SAP ABAP (Advanced Business Application Programming)
Project Role Description: As a Manager in SAP ABAP, you will lead and manage the development and customization of SAP applications using ABAP programming. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, testing, and deployment of custom SAP solutions to meet business needs. You will also provide leadership to the SAP ABAP team and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality delivery of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- SAP ABAP Development & Customization: Lead the design, development, and customization of SAP ABAP applications. This includes writing complex reports, forms, user exits, BADI implementations, workflows, and performance tuning of ABAP programs.
- Project Management: Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of SAP ABAP development projects, from requirements gathering to deployment. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and meet business requirements.
- Team Leadership & Mentoring: Lead a team of SAP ABAP developers, providing guidance and mentoring. Ensure effective collaboration among team members and promote knowledge sharing and skill development.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with business analysts, functional consultants, and project managers to understand business requirements and design efficient and scalable SAP ABAP solutions.
- Performance Tuning & Optimization: Analyze and optimize the performance of ABAP programs. Conduct regular performance audits and resolve any issues related to slow system performance.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all SAP ABAP developments adhere to SAP best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes. Review code and conduct testing to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Integration: Work on SAP integration with other modules such as SAP MM, SD, FICO, HR, and WM. Develop and optimize custom interfaces, BAPIs, and IDocs for smooth data exchange.
- System Support & Issue Resolution: Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for SAP ABAP applications. Resolve any issues related to custom developments, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare technical documentation for all custom developments, including detailed design, user manuals, and support documentation. Provide regular status reports on project progress.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement within the SAP ABAP landscape. Implement best practices and new technologies to streamline development processes and improve system functionality.
Skills Required:
- SAP ABAP Expertise: Strong experience in SAP ABAP programming, including reports, forms, interfaces, BAPIs, BADIs, and user exits.
- SAP Modules Knowledge: Good understanding of how ABAP interacts with various SAP modules such as SAP MM, SD, FICO, HR, and WM.
- Performance Optimization: Expertise in tuning and optimizing SAP ABAP code for performance.
- Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Team Leadership: Proven experience in leading and mentoring a team of SAP developers. Ability to foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
- Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve issues within SAP ABAP applications.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work with functional consultants and business users to understand requirements and develop effective solutions.
- Documentation Skills: Ability to document technical specifications, user guides, and troubleshooting procedures effectively.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with business stakeholders, project managers, and team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- SAP ABAP certification is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in SAP ABAP development.
- At least 2-3 years of experience in a leadership role, managing a team of SAP ABAP developers.
- Experience with SAP development across multiple modules, particularly SAP MM, SD, FICO, HR, and WM.
- Experience in SAP HANA and Fiori is a plus.
