About the Team

The Commercial Data Office (CoDO) team, within Global Commercial Services (GCS), is focused on powering the best customer experience and business growth through streamlined data. With continuous changes in the regulatory environment and innovation through data evolving, we play a key role in strengthening GCS critical enablers and supporting new growth opportunities. In partnership with the Enterprise Chief Data Office and across GCS, CoDO is tasked with building new, innovative data solutions for our customers, while adhering to regulations and data management standard methodologies.

The team's mission is comprised of 3 pillars:

  • Drive Strategic Growth & Revenue -Defining the vision and roadmap to enable data as a key asset to power business growth.
  • Modernize Data Management -Ongoing data management, data discovery and collaboration across business and technical teams
  • Ensure Health of the Commercial Business - Striving for 100% reliability of current data platforms and capabilities while developing more agility and scalability for the future

About the Role

The Manager - Data Analytics, Machine learning & Client Hierarchy Capabilities will be responsible for designing & developing advanced algorithms, developing deterministic matching frameworks, designing data roll-up and arbitration strategies, conducting internal and external data evaluations, and leading analytical initiatives in support of the Client Corporate Hierarchy & Transaction Matching products. This manager position is critical to provide technical thought leadership & lead a high performing team. Part of this role will be to work with product owners for deployment of algorithmic solutions to improve matching globally, enrich data and enhance accuracy to drive Amex economics & operations in various areas - access management, insights & reporting, expense sharing, incentives calculations & more.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and develop advanced matching algorithms and frameworks for entity matching globally
  • Create frameworks and solutions to capture hierarchical relationships & linkages
  • E2E ownership of analytical needs for the product
  • Monitor and analyze data quality and intelligence that is generated by algorithms
  • Develop systematic way to identify gaps in existing algorithms and processes
  • Provide thought leadership to product owners and tech leads on platform architecture to ensure seamless deployment of algorithmic solutions
  • Partner with product owners and tech leads to deploy algorithmic solutions in an Agile environment
  • Maintain an external lens to inform decisions and business strategies
  • Lead new initiatives, prepare project plans and other supporting information.
  • Lead, mentor and build a high performing and highly engaged team with diverse talent
  • Contribute to hiring top talent for the team and for CoDO

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in development and deployment of data science solutions
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information security, Mathematics, Statistics, or any other relevant qualification. Tier 1 institutes preferred
  • Leadership experience in leading/creating high performing teams with diverse skills
  • Experience with conceptualizing and building matching algorithms and frameworks
  • Experience with delivering business solutions across a variety of platforms and technologies such as Big Data, Pyspark, Hive, Scala, Python
  • Experience with applying rigorous solution-oriented analyses to deliver scalable solutions in the product space
  • Exposure to implementation of complex data products
  • Strong program management, analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Ability to think abstractly and deal with ambiguous/under-defined problems with a bias to action
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners to drive collaboration and alignment
