Job Description for Manager Legal (B3-2)

Role: Manager Legal

Location: Mumbai/Delhi, India

Reporting to: Deputy General Manager, India Legal Commercial and Procurement Team

Team: Procurement and Commercial Legal Team

Support to be extended:

India and MECCA region for Commercial Contracting

Global scope for Procurement Contracting

Cross-functional legal support and strategic initiatives

Key Responsibilities

Contract Drafting/Negotiation/Management

Provide legal support for procurement contracts, RFPs, and commercial agreements

Draft, review, and negotiate standard and non-standard contracts with minimal supervision

Provide legal interpretation and preliminary dispute support before litigation handover

Stakeholder Engagement

Act as primary legal contact for Commercial and Procurement teams

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive deal closures

Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams

Strategic Legal Support

Advice on contract structuring for new products and services

Support business growth through innovative legal solutions

Guide business teams on company processes and legal strategy

Policy & Process Development

Assist in developing and implementing legal policies and templates

Spearhead documentation and contracting process improvements

Maintain standard agreements and service schedules

Training & Knowledge Sharing

Conduct legal training for business and sales teams

Create and update best practice documentation and templates

Specialized Legal Support

Handle complex transactions (e.g., joint provisioning, voice outsourcing)

Support HR, lease agreements, and intellectual property matters

Negotiate data processing agreements and manage external counsels

Risk & Compliance

Proactively manage legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance

Monitor and update internal systems in line with evolving regulations

Interface with other legal teams (compliance, regulatory, litigation)

Skills & Qualifications

Education

LLB (or equivalent) with Bar admission in at least one jurisdiction

Experience

810 years post-qualification experience in corporate, commercial, and contract law

Exposure to domestic and international legal environments

Experience in telecommunications or technology sectors preferred

Core Competencies

Strong business acumen and financial understanding

Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills

Strategic thinker with problem-solving abilities

Ability to manage multiple complex transactions independently

Comfortable in fast-paced, multicultural, and hybrid work environments

Proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented

Desirable Attribute

Knowledge of common & civil law systems

Experience with global or multi-jurisdictional contracts
