Job Title: Firewall L3 Engineer (Cisco FTD / FMC & Palo Alto)

Experience Required: 812 years
Location: Pune , On premise Client location
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Firewall L3 Engineer with deep expertise in enterprise security environments within the BFSI domain. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with Cisco Firepower (FTD/FMC) and Palo Alto firewalls, along with strong exposure to regulatory compliance, security operations, and complex migrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as L3 subject matter expert for firewall technologies in a large-scale BFSI enterprise environment.
  • Manage, configure, and troubleshoot firewalls including Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and Firepower Management Center (FMC), as well as Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
  • Handle complex incident troubleshooting, performance tuning, and root cause analysis (RCA) for major security/network incidents.
  • Design and implement firewall policies aligned with security best practices and business requirements.
  • Lead and support migration activities from Cisco FTD to Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Ensure high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery configurations for firewall infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with SOC, network, audit, and application teams for security enforcement and issue resolution.
  • Maintain detailed documentation, network diagrams, and SOPs.

Compliance & Security Operations (BFSI)

  • Perform periodic firewall rule reviews and recertification in line with audit requirements.
  • Implement firewall hardening as per industry benchmarks and organizational policies.
  • Plan and execute firmware/software patching and upgrades with minimal downtime.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing logs, reports, and evidence.
  • Maintain proper logging, monitoring, and retention aligned with compliance standards.
  • Enforce least privilege, segmentation, and secure access controls across network zones.
  • Participate in vulnerability assessments and remediation activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 812 years of hands-on experience in network security / firewall administration.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in:
    • Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and Firepower Management Center (FMC)
    • Palo Alto Networks firewalls (PAN-OS)
  • Proven experience in firewall migration projects (Cisco FTD to Palo Alto preferred).
  • Deep understanding of firewall policies, NAT, VPNs (IPSec/SSL), and network segmentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for complex production environments.
  • Experience in BFSI or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as:
    • Palo Alto (PCNSE or equivalent)
    • Cisco (CCNP Security / CCIE Security)
  • Experience with automation tools (Python, Ansible, Terraform)
  • Exposure to SIEM tools and security monitoring platforms

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle high-pressure production incidents
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional coordination
  • Strong documentation and audit-handling capabilities
