Role Overview:
The person will be responsible for reviewing, verifying, and approving structural designs related to PEB, steel structures, and RCC works. The role ensures compliance with statutory codes, safety standards, constructability requirements, and effective coordination with architectural, MEP, and project teams.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Design Review & Verification
- The role involves reviewing and validating structural design calculations for PEB systems, including primary and secondary members, as well as hospital and commercial building structures. The incumbent will verify all load assumptions such as dead load, live load, wind load, and seismic load, and ensure that load combinations are applied in accordance with applicable IS codes. Responsibilities also include checking member sizing, bracing systems, structural connections, base plates, and anchor bolts, along with reviewing and approving foundation designs for both PEB and RCC structures to ensure safety, compliance, and constructability.
Drawing Review & Approval
- The position requires reviewing, commenting on, and approving General Arrangement (GA) drawings, fabrication drawings, erection drawings, and structural connection details. The individual must ensure that all drawings are fully aligned with approved design calculations. Any discrepancies identified during the review process must be technically evaluated and formal observations issued to consultants and vendors for resolution.
Codes, Standards & Statutory Compliance
- The incumbent will ensure strict adherence to relevant Indian Standards (IS codes), the National Building Code (NBC), and all applicable local authority and statutory requirements. This role also involves coordinating with proof consultants, addressing design comments, and ensuring timely closure of all observations to achieve full statutory compliance.
Cross-Functional Coordination & Technical Support
- The role demands close coordination with architects, MEP consultants, PEB vendors, and fabricators to ensure seamless integration of structural designs with other disciplines. The incumbent will provide technical clarifications at site during erection and construction activities and support value engineering initiatives while maintaining required safety, quality, and performance standards.
Quality Control & Site Support
- Responsibilities include reviewing method statements related to steel erection, inspecting reinforcement detailing, and evaluating steel fabrication quality. The role also involves verifying material test certificates, bolt grades, and welding procedures, as well as addressing site-related Requests for Information (RFIs) pertaining to structural works.
Documentation & Reporting
- The incumbent will maintain complete records of design reviews, approvals, and logs, and prepare technical reports, deviation notes, and compliance documentation. The role also supports statutory and regulatory approvals as required during the project lifecycle.
Required Skills & Competencies
- The position requires a strong understanding of PEB design philosophy and core structural engineering principles. The individual must be capable of independently reviewing and validating complex structural designs, possess expertise in steel connections, detailing, and constructability, and demonstrate strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Technical Skills (Preferred)
- Proficiency in structural analysis and detailing software such as STAAD Pro, ETABS, SAFE, Tekla Structures, and AutoCAD is preferred.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of PEB design philosophy
- Ability to independently check and validate designs
- Knowledge of steel connections and detailing
- Site coordination and problem-solving skills
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering / Architecture / Construction management or equivalent.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in large-scale construction and infrastructure projects.
- Prior exposure to hospitals, luxury hotels, or premium residential developments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, quality control processes, safety standards, and statutory compliance is required.
