Responsibilities
- Strategy & Governance
- Define C&I strategy, standards, and SOPs aligned to plant goals (safety, throughput, quality, energy, cost).
- Establish and enforce engineering standards (ISA/IEC), documentation, and change control (MOC).
- Develop and manage C&I budget (capex & opex), spares strategy, and obsolescence roadmap.
- Operations & Reliability
- Ensure high availability of DCS/PLC/SCADA, SIS/ESD, F&G, and field instruments.
- Lead preventive/predictive maintenance, calibration compliance, loop checks, and troubleshooting.
- Track and improve MTBF/MTTR, alarm rationalization, and badactor elimination.
- Projects & Commissioning
- Lead C&I scope for brownfield/greenfield projects: URS, FEED/detail engineering, vendor selection, FAT/SAT, installation, commissioning, and handover.
- Manage contractors and system integrators; ensure ontime, onbudget, rightfirsttime delivery.
- Safety & Compliance
- Maintain functional safety lifecycle for SIS (e.g., SIL verification/validation, proof testing).
- Drive PHA/HAZOP/LOPA actions; ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Own instrument integrity, hazardous area compliance (ATEX/IECEx), and electrical/earthing interfaces.
- Automation & Optimization
- Own control strategy, APC/advanced controls, loop tuning, historian/MES interfaces, and reporting.
- Lead digital and OT/IT initiatives (e.g., asset performance management, condition monitoring).
- Cybersecurity & OT
- Implement and sustain industrial cybersecurity controls, patching, backups, disaster recovery, and network segmentation in collaboration with IT/OT.
- People & Stakeholder Management
- Build team capability (coaching, training, succession planning).
- Partner with Production, QA, EHS, Procurement, and Finance to meet business KPIs.
- Manage vendor performance and AMCs; negotiate service scope and SLAs.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Plant uptime (%) and critical system availability
- MTBF/MTTR for C&I assets; alarm rate & standing alarms
- Calibration compliance (%) and audit findings closed on time
- Project delivery (OTIF: ontime, infull) and cost variance
- SIS proof test completion (%) and functional safety nonconformities
- Change success rate & MOC compliance (%)
- Energy/utility optimization (savings) and automationdriven OEE improvement
- Cybersecurity posture (backup success, patch currency, incident count)
- Team development (training hours, multiskilling matrix coverage)
