Role Summary

The Manager – Business Development will be responsible for originating, developing, and closing debt financing opportunities across corporates, SMEs, and emerging businesses. The role requires a strong front-end origination capability, deep market relationships, and the ability to identify and structure funding solutions through debt syndication, structured credit, private credit funds, and Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) platforms.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of corporate finance and debt products, coupled with a proven track record in client acquisition, relationship management, and transaction closure.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Deal Origination

  • Identify, approach, and acquire new corporate, SME, and promoter-led clients seeking debt financing solutions.
  • Generate proprietary deal flow through direct sourcing and relationship-driven origination.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of debt syndication, structured finance, refinancing, and growth capital opportunities.
  • Conduct client meetings to understand funding requirements and assess transaction viability.
  • Present customized financing solutions aligned with client objectives and investor/lender mandates.
  • Drive the entire business development cycle from lead generation to mandate acquisition and deal closure.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with promoters, founders, CFOs, treasury heads, and key decision-makers.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with Chartered Accountants, consultants, investment bankers, wealth managers, brokers, and referral partners.
  • Establish long-term client relationships to generate repeat mandates and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on capital structure optimization and financing strategies.

Debt Syndication & Structured Finance

  • Source opportunities across:
    • Working Capital Finance
    • Term Loans
    • Project Finance
    • Structured Debt
    • Acquisition Financing
    • Growth Capital
    • Refinancing & Balance Sheet Restructuring
    • Private Credit & AIF-led Transactions
  • Collaborate with internal credit and investment teams to structure viable financing solutions.
  • Support transaction execution through lender/investor discussions and negotiations.
Market Development & Industry Engagement

  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, networking forums, CFO roundtables, and business events.
  • Develop market intelligence on debt markets, lender appetite, pricing trends, and sector opportunities.
  • Identify emerging sectors and financing themes relevant to the firm's investment and lending strategy.
  • Contribute to enhancing the firm's market presence and brand visibility.

Transaction Management & Internal Coordination

  • Act as the primary client-facing point of contact throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with credit, legal, compliance, operations, and investment teams for seamless deal execution.
  • Ensure timely collection of information, documentation, financial data, and due diligence requirements.
  • Monitor transaction progress and proactively resolve execution bottlenecks.
  • Maintain adherence to internal risk, compliance, and investment guidelines.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong business development and client acquisition capabilities.
  • Proven track record in debt syndication, structured finance, or corporate banking.
  • Sound understanding of corporate finance, capital structures, and credit products.
  • Excellent relationship-building and networking skills.

Educational Qualifications

Mandatory

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, or related discipline.

Preferred

  • MBA / PGDM in Finance, Marketing, or Strategy.
  • CFA, FRM, CA, or other relevant financial certifications.

Preferred Industry Background

Candidates with experience in any of the following sectors will be preferred:

  • Demonstrated success in originating and closing debt transactions.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong revenue-generation capabilities.
  • Self-driven professional capable of managing a proprietary deal pipeline independently.
