Job Description
About Hygenco:
Hygenco aims to be a global leader in deploying Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia-powered
industry solutions. We develop and deploy scaled-up, commercially attractive Green Hydrogen
and Green Ammonia production assets. We combine our in-house expertise in renewable power,
process industry, gases, and project financing with the latest innovation and know-how from our
network of global OEMs and EPC firms. Hygenco is founded by industry professionals bringing in
combined 30+ years of experience in Construction, Renewables, Operations & Maintenance, Investment banking and Private Equity.
- Requires extensive travel to fabricator works · Reports to the Head of Modularisation & Package Delivery.
- Make sure every skid we ship is built right, tested right and documented right, and leaves the fabricator's works on the date we promised.
Hygenco builds, owns and operates some of India's first commercial-scale green hydrogen plants. Its Modularisation & Package Delivery team turns process designs into complete, tested, skid-mounted units, built by qualified fabricators and delivered ready for site installation.
The role
You own the build of every package from purchase order to dispatch: the inspection & test plan, surveillance at the fabricator's works, the factory acceptance test (FAT), the records and the schedule. The boundaries are clear. A peer qualifies the fabricators; the technology owner sets the acceptance criteria, and the plant engineering team holds design authority; and for higher-risk packages, the company's separate Asset Integrity (QA/QC) function inspects independently and releases them for shipment. You release all other packages, and a concession is never yours to grant.
What you'll own
- Inspection & test plans (ITPs) for every package, including the Asset Integrity function's hold and witness points on higher-risk packages.
- Procedure review before work starts: fabricators quality plans and welding, NDT and test procedures (WPS, PQR, WPQ), and a register of the procedures you have approved, for reuse on repeat builds.
- In-shop surveillance: materials, fit-up, welding, NDT, pressure and leak testing, painting and preservation.
- Statutory and third-party inspection: IBR and PESO/CCOE inspections and third-party inspectors; for higher-risk packages, the Asset Integrity function assigns the agency.
- Factory acceptance tests: plan, organise and witness them; the technology owner accepts performance, and the Asset Integrity function witnesses higher-risk packages.
- Release for shipment of every package outside the Asset Integrity function's risk-tiered programme, with a complete record book.
- Non-conformances (NCRs) to closure; any concession needs the technology owner's written approval, and also the Asset Integrity function's for higher-risk packages.
- Expediting: milestone plans, vendor visits, and early warning and escalation before a date is lost.
- Build data for the supplier scorecard, which Vendor Development & Sourcing owns, and a small team of inspectors and expeditors as volume grows.
How success will be measured
In your first 12–18 months, and every year after, success looks like this:
- On-time-in-full dispatch against committed dates.
- First-time FAT acceptance, and fewer NCRs from one build of a package to the next.
- Zero statutory or code release exceptions, and no package shipped with an incomplete record book.
- The same inspection rigour on the tenth build as on the first.
Why this role, and why now
Much of India's first hydrogen equipment is being built by shops that know oil, gas and chemicals skids, but not yet hydrogen. You will set up how we inspect and expedite from the first build, and the plans and procedures you approve will be reused build after build.
What we're looking for
- A mechanical, production or metallurgical engineering degree, with 10–15 years in inspection, supplier quality or expediting of fabricated process equipment.
- At least five years on process skids or modular packages, much of it inside fabrication shops rather than at site.
- Hands-on welding and NDT judgment; CSWIP 3.1, AWS CWI or NDT Level II certification is a plus.
- Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, IX and B31.3, IBR, PESO/CCOE and ISO 3834.
- Proactive expediting, with a record of recovering slippage at the vendor's works.
- Based in Pune, with heavy travel to fabricators in Maharashtra and Gujarat. Hydrogen or oxygen service experience is a plus, not a requirement.
If you want to decide whether India's first hydrogen packages are built right, we'd like to hear from you.
