Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) brings together American Express merchant-and network related businesses to enable a sharp focus on using the power of our network to provide unique value to all our mutual customers. The organisation manages the relationships with the millions of merchants around the world that accepts American Express and runs the company's payment network and manages bank partnerships globally.

Global Strategy and Operations (GSOP) is looking for a strategic and highly collaborative Manager - Audit & Exam Management to serve as a key liaison between IAG (Internal Audit Group), Regulatory Exam Lead, and business stakeholders across the GMNS organisation. This role plays a critical part in ensuring audit and exam engagements are executed efficiently, transparently, and in alignment with regulatory expectations.

The ideal candidate is an experienced risk or audit professional who understands GMNS operations and controls, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and excels at coordinating across multiple stakeholders. This individual will bring strong organisational discipline, executive presence, and the ability to translate audit requirements into actionable business responses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between IAG, Regulatory Exam Lead, and GMNS key stakeholders.

  • Coordinate end-to-end audit and examination activities, including planning, scope alignment, documentation collection, request tracking and status reporting.

  • Facilitate effective communication between audit teams and business stakeholders to ensure clarity of expectations, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Track and manage audit requests and responses to ensure completeness, quality, and timeliness.

  • Escalate risks, delays, or emerging concerns appropriately to leadership.

  • Identify themes and trends across audit findings and provide insights to strengthen governance and control environments.

  • Support the development and enhancement of audit governance processes, reporting frameworks, and operating models.

  • Prepare executive-level updates and reporting on audit status, risk themes, and remediation progress.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Risk Management, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in Internal Audit, Risk Management, Compliance, or Operational Risk within the banking or financial services industry.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and control environments in a banking context.

  • Exceptional project management, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with senior leadership.

  • Flexibility to support audits and examinations across multiple regions and time zones, including the ability to adjust work hours as needed to meet business and regulatory demands.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating audits or regulatory examinations.
