Role Overview :
This position will be responsible for leading the mechanical design and development of new Special Purpose Machines (SPMs), automation systems, and equipment from concept to release as well as lead the project engineering activities. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, cost-effective, scalable, and reliable designs while supporting manufacturing, assembly, commissioning, and site execution activities. The incumbent will drive first-time-right design practices, mentor a team of design engineers, and ensure adherence to engineering standards, design processes, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage a team of 4–6 design engineers responsible for 3D modeling, detailing, and engineering documentation.
- Develop and execute detailed mechanical designs for new equipment, automation systems, and SPMs from concept to release.
- Perform engineering calculations for structural components, drive systems, geared motors, servo motors, pneumatic, and hydraulics.
- Prepare concept layouts, project layouts, detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and conduct customer design approval presentations (DAP).
- Review and approve material selection, GD&T, heat treatment specifications, surface treatments, and manufacturing drawings.
- Design and validate pneumatic and hydraulic circuits, including component sizing and selection.
- Plan and monitor design schedules, resource allocation, and capacity planning to ensure timely project delivery.
- Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, DFMEA, and root cause analysis to minimize errors and rework.
- Validate cycle time calculations and ensure alignment with project and proposal requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Project Management, Electrical Design, Automation, Robotics, SCM, Manufacturing, Assembly, and Site teams.
- Establish and enforce design standards, SOPs, release protocols, ECO processes, and engineering best practices.
- Drive design optimization initiatives focused on cost reduction, standardization, module reuse, and scalability.
- Support manufacturing, assembly, testing, commissioning, and customer site activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Analyze design deviations, customer change requests, failures, and delays, and implement permanent corrective actions.
- ·Mentor and develop junior engineers through structured design reviews, checklists, and technical guidance.

Educational Qualification :
Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering.
