Job Description: Makerspace Facilitator School The Shri Ram Academy Department Makerspace Reports To Head of Makerspace Role Type Full-Time Facilitator Position Overview As a Makerspace Facilitator, you will be the catalyst for hands-on, student-centered learning. You will bridge the gap between theoretical curriculum frameworks and tangible, meaningful experiences, empowering students to navigate the world through the lens of Design Thinking. Your primary mission is to nurture a culture of creativity, collaboration, and iterative problem-solving. Instructional Design & Readiness • Curriculum Translation: Transform high-level frameworks provided by the Makerspace Lead into detailed, actionable project plans. • Strategic Planning: Design comprehensive weekly and daily lesson plans that clearly define learning objectives, resource requirements, and assessment strategies. • Design Thinking Alignment: Ensure all instructional sequences are rigorously aligned with the Design Thinking process. • Operational Foresight: Manage the logistical lifecycle of the Makerspace by submitting lesson plans a week in advance and communicating material needs at least 3 days prior to sessions. • Environment Curation: Prepare the physical Makerspace environment and organize specialized materials to ensure seamless session delivery. Studio Facilitation & Mentorship • Visionary Facilitation: Guide students through the process, framework, and structure as per the vision of the school. • Learning Culture: Cultivate a safe, inclusive, and highly collaborative studio atmosphere where student engagement and positive behavior are prioritized. • Adaptive Teaching: Provide real-time, constructive feedback and pivot activities based on the evolving needs of the students. • Excellence & Competition: Identify opportunities to mentor and prepare students for external competitions and school-wide showcases. • Studio Stewardship: Oversee the functional setup and thorough cleanup of the space following each session. Assessment & Insight • Progress Tracking: Execute formative assessments and maintain detailed daily reports regarding project progress and classroom challenges. • Documentation: Capture evidence of the learning journey through anecdotal records and systematic documentation of student work. • Portfolio Management: Support summative assessment cycles and ensure student portfolios are regularly updated to reflect their growth. Collaboration & Professional Growth • Team Synergy: Actively engage in weekly team meetings and collaborate with fellow facilitators to share best practices. • Continuous Learning: Participate in specialized training sessions and remain informed on global trends in Maker Education and technology. • Professional Rigor: Contribute to a culture of preparedness by arriving at review meetings with clear agendas and pre-submitted plans. Qualifications & Competencies • Education: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study. • Experience: Proven experience within a teaching environment or a dedicated Makerspace/FabLab setting. • Pedagogical Knowledge: A deep, working understanding of Design Thinking principles. • Soft Skills: Exceptional classroom management abilities, strong organizational skills, and the communication prowess to inspire students and peers alike.
