Location: Dahej
The Maintenance Manager for Packaging is responsible for ensuring maximum uptime, reliability, and efficiency of all packaging equipment and utilities. The role focuses on preventive and predictive maintenance, breakdown reduction, safety, compliance, spare management, and continuous improvement to support production targets, quality standards, and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment & Asset Management
- Ensure optimal performance of all packaging lines (primary, secondary, tertiary).
- Manage maintenance of machines such as fillers, cappers, labelers, cartoners, case packers, shrink wrappers, conveyors, palletizers, etc.
- Establish equipment life-cycle management plans.
2. Maintenance Strategy
- Develop and implement Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs.
- Reduce unplanned breakdowns through root cause analysis (RCA).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve OEE, MTBF, and MTTR.
3. Team Leadership
- Lead, train, and develop maintenance technicians and engineers.
- Allocate manpower effectively across shifts.
- Ensure skill development on new packaging technologies and automation.
4. Breakdown & Troubleshooting
- Lead critical breakdown troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation issues.
- Coordinate with OEMs and external service providers when needed.
- Ensure fast response and effective corrective actions.
5. Spare Parts & Budget Control
- Manage critical spare inventory for packaging equipment.
- Optimize spare consumption and maintenance costs.
- Prepare and control annual maintenance budgets.
6. Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, statutory regulations, and SOPs.
- Support GMP, HACCP, ISO, FSSC, or other regulatory audits.
- Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities.
7. Projects & Improvements
- Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new packaging lines.
- Participate in CAPEX projects and equipment upgrades.
- Drive automation and energy efficiency initiatives.
